v2026.10.6 - feat: Wake-up sensors keep the display on, maximum-first forecast temperatures and OTA password fix

Highlights

Wake-up sensors keep the display on

The wake-up sensors selected in the Blueprint now keep the display on while any of them is On, instead of only waking it up when they turn On. The dim and sleep timeouts start counting once all of them are Off. This applies to every sensor in the list, including doors, windows and locks.

The sensors are now handled by the panel itself, through the Home Assistant state subscriptions, so the Blueprint automation no longer runs on every sensor change. While Home Assistant is disconnected, the sensors are ignored, so a sensor stuck at On cannot keep the display on. (#349, #562, #570)

Maximum temperature first on the weather pages

A new Blueprint option, Weather pages - Show maximum temperature first (under "Weather and temperature"), shows the forecast temperatures as <max> / <min> instead of <min> / <max>. It is off by default. (#350, #565)

Hardware button labels dimmed while Home Assistant is disconnected

While Home Assistant is disconnected, the labels of hardware buttons that only send events to Home Assistant are dimmed, as those buttons have no effect. Buttons that control their relay locally, or with the relay local fallback, keep their normal colors. (#518, #561)

Bug fixes

  • OTA updates with a blank OTA password work again. Updates to 2026.10.5 failed with "ESP requests password, but no password given!" when ota_password was blank. The fix from 2026.10.4 was lost on the way to 2026.10.5, and is now applied again. OTA encryption remains supported by removing the password with password: !remove, as documented. (#555, #566)
  • Removed home page entity states are cleared. When an entity was removed from one of the home page entity states, its last value and icon stayed on the screen until the display restarted. (#351, #560)

Before updating

  • Update the firmware together with the Blueprint. The Blueprint requires this firmware version, as the wake-up sensors are now handled by the panel. With an older firmware, the wake-up sensors stop working.
  • The panel restarts once after the Blueprint first runs with this version, as the wake-up sensors are added to the panel's state subscriptions. This also happens later when the wake-up sensors are changed.
  • No TFT update is needed. The TFT version is unchanged.

Documentation

  • Wake-up sensors, the new weather option and the dimmed hardware button labels are documented in the Blueprint guide.
  • The OTA encryption and on_boot password configurations from previous guides are covered again. (#566)

Development

  • Releases now use the description of the PR that triggered them, without the bot summaries, followed by the generated notes. (#564)
  • The clang-format workflow no longer reverts commits pushed while it is running, which caused the OTA regression in 2026.10.5. (#567, #571)
  • Nextion2Text exports now include the HMI model and display orientation, so changes to them show in reviews. (#559)
