Highlights
Climate preset modes on the climate page
The climate page now has a preset button that opens a list with the presets of the climate being shown, like eco, comfort or away. The button is only shown when the climate supports presets.
- Home Assistant climate entities: the presets reported by the entity are listed, the active one is highlighted, and the selection is applied with
climate.set_preset_mode. - Embedded thermostat (climate add-on): the list is built by the panel itself from the thermostat configuration (ESPHome's standard presets first, then your custom presets), so presets can be changed even while Home Assistant is unavailable.
The list supports up to 32 presets; when a climate has more, the active preset is always kept in the list. See docs/blueprint.md and the new "Presets" section in docs/addon_climate.md. (#551)
Slider values formatted like the rest of the panel
While sliding, the climate and water heater pages now show the decimal only when the step is not a whole number, matching the values shown when the slider is released. For example, a humidifier with a 1% step shows 47 % instead of 47.0 %. Negative values are also shown correctly (-1.5 instead of -1.-5). (#527)
Bug fixes
- Wrong separators before Home Assistant connects: the decimal and units separators are now restored on the display during boot, so values are formatted with your locale settings even before the connection to Home Assistant. (#527)
- Embedded thermostat slider with a fractional minimum: with a whole-number step and a minimum like 7.5, the slider values were fractional but shown without decimals. The slider now starts at the next multiple of the step, as it already did for Home Assistant climates, and no longer goes above the maximum.
- Tapping the selected option in a list cleared its highlight: on the climate and fan preset lists and the light effect list, tapping the option already selected removed its highlight, also when the list was opened again. The selected option now stays highlighted.
- Climates with a negative minimum temperature: the climate page slider did not work correctly when the minimum temperature was below zero. This affected Home Assistant climates and the embedded thermostat.
Other changes
- The mode button on the fan page now gives its visual feedback when pressed instead of when released, like the other buttons.
- New documentation for replacing the background images without installing Nextion Editor, using the community project Nextion Editor Docker and its Home Assistant add-on. See "Advanced TFT File Customization" in
docs/install.md. (#552) - The files and script behavior used by external tools to rebuild the TFT with custom backgrounds are now documented as a stable interface in
hmi/dev/instructions_for_developers.md. Any future change to it will be announced in the release notes. (#553) - CI: clang-format is now pinned in its own requirements file and installed via pip, so the formatter version no longer changes with the GitHub runner image. (#550, #554)
Upgrade notes
- Update the ESPHome firmware, the TFT and the Blueprint. The new firmware requires the new TFT and the new Blueprint, and the new Blueprint requires the new firmware.
