Added
- An imported PDF has its cover. When page 1 is a cover picture,
it becomes the EPUB's cover and opens the book, instead of coming through as
separate photos and paragraphs of its lettering. A cover whose lettering is
set in fonts over the picture is not found yet. - Imported books carry images a reader can show: at most 1,920 pixels on
the longest side (an 8" reader at 300 ppi), and 2,560 for the cover (Amazon
KDP's ideal). A JPEG keeps its own quality, gray stays gray, and nothing is
enlarged or kept when it would not be smaller.importonly; the optimizer
does not resize.
Changed
importreads PDFs through paginaverto 0.3.1: words broken by a
soft hyphen at a line end are joined again (about 2,000 to 4,500 broken words
in 3 of our 12 test PDFs), and fewer paragraphs break in the middle of a
sentence.
Fixed
importwrites a DOCTYPE andlangin every XHTML file (PDF and
Markdown). EPUB 3 does not require the DOCTYPE, but Sigil "cleaned" every file
without one on open and said so.- An imported PDF gets its title and author from the file name when the PDF
has none:Title (Author) (site.one, site.two).pdfbecomes "Title" by
Author, not the whole file name. Site names, download numbers and a
computer's name as author ("Lenovo") are left out. - Imported books have a style sheet (PDF and Markdown): indented,
justified, hyphenated paragraphs, and images that fit the screen. Before,
a large picture could overflow it. - No more "Section 1" in an imported book. The part of a PDF before its
first heading (cover, imprint, blurb) got an English heading "Section 1" that
the book does not have, and a Markdown chapter without a heading was listed
as "Section n". Such a part now has no made-up heading and stays out of the
table of contents; a book with no heading at all lists its title once.
