v3.8.0 - Fixes for HA 2025.4

If you still want to thank me for my work for last few years

You can also help me by buying or promoting my new webshop where I create ESPHome devices: https://smarthomeshop.io/en 💟

How to update

  • BACKUP! Always make a backup of your Home Assistant setup and the dwains-dashboard folder in your main configuration directory.
  • Update Dwains Dashboard via HACS or download the latest zip and copy it over the existing files in custom_components/dwains_dashboard.
  • Reboot Home Assistant and CLEAR YOUR CACHE (browser and mobile app)!

V3.8 Changelog

This version brings compatibility fixes for Home Assistant 2024.4, which caused the dashboard to stop working due to internal changes in how templates and views are handled.

Fixes

  • Fixed lovelace_gen rendering errors introduced in HA 2024.4.
  • Resolved issues with views and templating due to core HA changes.
  • YAML rendering improved to work with the updated parsing engine.
  • General stability improvements and cleanup.

Community ❤️

Special thanks to @billygr and @Onepamopa for submitting the pull requests that made this update possible!
Please help test the dashboard on the latest Home Assistant versions and report any issues.

IMPORTANT NEWS 🛠️

As of now, I have officially stopped active development on Dwains Dashboard. While I will continue to merge community-submitted pull requests (PRs), my focus has shifted entirely to my new project: SmartHomeShop.io, where I develop innovative products for smart homes—built around Home Assistant and ESPHome.

Dwains Dashboard now works again with Home Assistant 2024.4, thanks to the amazing efforts of community members. However, I personally no longer have the time to maintain this project like I used to. If you submit a fix or improvement via PR, and it’s tested and confirmed working, I’ll gladly merge it and push a new release.

I also want to take a moment to address a recent misunderstanding. Dwains Dashboard was a free, open-source passion project that I worked on for years in my spare time, with no commercial intent. SmartHomeShop.io is a professional venture that allows me to contribute to the Home Assistant ecosystem in a different, sustainable way—by building and supporting great products.

To be fully transparent: I've sometimes felt overlooked or treated as a small player by parts of the Home Assistant team, despite everything Dwains Dashboard has meant to the community over the past few years. That's okay. I'm proud of what we've built here together, and I’m more motivated than ever to continue innovating.

That’s why I’d like to ask for your help: if you’ve appreciated my work, it would mean a lot if you could share SmartHomeShop.io with others. Whether it’s word of mouth, a post on social media, or just spreading the name, it makes a big difference for an independent small creator like me.

Thank you to everyone who supported Dwains Dashboard all these years. It’s been an amazing journey. I’m proud of what we’ve built together, and I’m excited to keep contributing in new ways through SmartHomeShop.io. I hope to see you there! 😊
