herdr web ui v0.4.8

one day ago

New features

  • A setting holds messages queued while the agent works until you press Send now.
  • Open in a new tab shows a markdown file as a page of its own; its links open there too.
  • The file viewer draws a README's HTML: centered logo, badges, links, details.

Improvements

  • The plan lives in the background-task button by the message box, as a list of steps.
  • Recent folders skip worktrees and temp folders: up to eight on one row, the rest under +N.
  • Why a message did not go shows as a band on the message box, with Clear it and send.
  • A phone back from sleep reconnects at once instead of waiting out the retry delay.
  • Built scripts and styles are served precompressed, so the app loads faster.
  • A pinned agent stays in its workspace card, and cards with pins come first.

Bug fixes

  • On a phone, Back closes an open sheet or dialog instead of switching panes.
  • A pane shown alone on a phone no longer draws its own ellipsis over the chat.
  • A long press on the chat selects text and offers copy, as the phone does.
  • A phone showing one pane of a split tab no longer resizes the other panes' terminals.
  • A PC window left in front takes the pane back at its own size on a click or key.
  • The update line stays one row on a phone; after an update it closes with an x.
  • A refused answer on a question card stays visible until the card is replaced.
  • With reduce motion on, a running agent's arc fades in and out, so RUN reads apart from BG.
Full changelog

Added

  • Settings → Composer → Send queued messages automatically (on by default). Turned off, a
message sent while the agent works waits under the message box until you press Send now,
instead of going by itself when the turn ends. A PC whose bridge is older than this release
still sends it at the turn's end. A held message shown in another tab, or after a reload, asks
to be reviewed before Send now, since the tab that held it may still send it.

Changed

  • With Workspace cards on, a pinned agent stays in its workspace's card, first there, and the
cards that hold pins come first, instead of the agent leaving its card for the top of the list.
    (#852)
  • Open in a new tab on a markdown file opens a page of just the document, with its name, path,
Open raw file and Download above it, instead of a second copy of the whole app with the
file viewer over it. A link in the document to another file opens there, from the document's
folder, and Back returns. Links made before (?file=…) still open the app with the viewer.
    (#849)
  • New workspace's recent folders leave out worktree checkouts (herdr's under ~/.herdr/worktrees
and the linked worktrees a PC has open) and temporary folders such as /tmp, and offer up to
eight folders instead of three: a phone swipes them sideways on one row, a wider screen wraps them.
    (#844, #848)
  • A pane's plan moved from the header into the background-task button by the message box: the
button starts with Plan and how many steps are done (2/5), and opens one list with the
plan's steps first and the background tasks below. The plan's flow of boxes, its dialog and the
Plan flow and Plan count in the header settings are gone. (#846)
  • Reuse immutable chat-message revisions across unrelated renders while retaining mutable-caller change detection.
    (#788 by @kilhyeonjun)
  • The reason a chat message did not go (Claude Code's terminal input box holds a draft, the PC
needs an update, the send was not confirmed) is a band on the message box's top edge, as wide as
the box, with Clear it and send at its end, instead of small red text under the box.
    (#851)
  • Serve built JavaScript and CSS as Brotli or gzip when accepted, preserving original bytes and static cache/CSP policy.
    (#787 by @kilhyeonjun)

Fixed

  • The file viewer draws the HTML a README is written with (a centered logo, a row of badges and
links, <details>) as markdown instead of showing its tags as text: paragraphs and headings,
centered where align="center" says so, links, images with their width, emphasis and line breaks.
Other tags are left out with their text kept; comments, scripts and styles are dropped. Images from
other sites still show their alt text, as before. An agent's chat message keeps HTML as text.
    (#847)
  • On a phone, Back closes every dialog drawn as a sheet the way it closes a ⋯ menu: the plan, the
command palette, confirmations, the file list, the worktree dialog, Rename pane and the diagram
lightbox. It used to open the pane before under the dialog, which stayed up. A wider screen keeps
    Back for the panes.
    (#842)
  • A phone brought back from sleep or the background reconnects as soon as the page is shown or the
network returns, instead of showing "reconnecting" for up to 5 seconds while the retry delay
    grown during sleep ran out.
    (#843)
  • On a phone, the system Back button closes an open ⋯ menu sheet instead of switching to the pane
opened before, which it did since 0.4.7 made each pane a history entry. A sheet closed by Cancel,
a swipe or one of its items leaves no extra Back step behind.
    (#837)
  • On a phone or other touch screen, a pane shown alone no longer draws its own ellipsis over the
chat or terminal, under the header's: its actions (rename, split, zoom, close) are in the tab's
ellipsis menu, between the tab's panes and the tab's own actions. A split pane on a wide touch
    screen keeps its own menu.
    (#835)
  • On a phone, a long press on the chat selects text and offers copy as the phone does, instead of
opening the pane's actions menu; on the terminal it opens no menu either. A right-click, or a
menu asked for from the keyboard, still opens it.
    (#838)
  • With the system's reduce-motion setting on, a running agent's arc in the sidebar stood still,
so RUN looked like BG (the same arc held still). It now fades in and out instead of turning. (#841)
  • A phone showing one pane of a split tab no longer resizes the tab's other panes to its own
screen: they stay mounted behind the one shown and now keep the size the pty has, so a PC
drawing the split keeps its own sizes. A pane shown again on the phone takes its size then.
    (#840)
  • The update line above the pane stays one line on a phone and on a computer: a long sentence ends
in an ellipsis instead of wrapping its buttons onto a second row, the line after an update closes
with an × like a PC's line, and an install's step, count and bar share one row. The warning to
save unsent drafts before a reload is the one line still read in full, so it may wrap.
    (#845)
  • A PC window left in front while you used the terminal on a phone stayed at the phone's size
when you came back, because it never lost the focus and so never took the pane back. A click
or a key in its terminal now returns the pane to the PC's size. (#839)
  • A refused answer on a question card (the question changed, or the answer no longer fits it) now
stays on the card as an error until the card is replaced, instead of a 2-second note that was easy
to miss, so the button no longer looks dead. POST /api/pane/prompt/answer logs each request
with the pane, whether the prompt id matched, and the outcome; never the answer.
    (#793)

Maintenance

  • The remote-PC runtime is now version 27: every saved PC asks for Update bridge… once, so the
held messages setting and the precompressed assets reach it.
