Fixed
x.com/tosandx.com/privacywere being redirected to Nitter and showing "Page not found". X answers those with a redirect to a language-prefixed path such as/en/tos, which arrived as a fresh navigation the X-only path list did not recognise. Locale-prefixed policy pages now stay on X.
Instance selection
- Fresh redirects are now weighted by both the health service's score and its measured response time, instead of being spread evenly across every healthy instance. Quicker instances are picked more often, while the spread that prevents any single instance being overloaded is preserved.
- A failed instance is now deprioritised for a length of time that reflects what went wrong and how often it has happened. A rate limit clears in minutes; a host that stops resolving is held down far longer. Repeat failures extend it, and any successful page load clears it.
- An instance that repeatedly serves a page that is not Nitter, such as an operator shutdown notice, is now deprioritised. A single occurrence still never counts against it, so a change to Nitter's markup cannot condemn the whole fleet at once.
Human-verification challenges
- The extension no longer treats a challenge page as an ordinary page load, and will not navigate away from one while you are solving it. The instance is briefly deprioritised so the next redirect prefers one that is not challenging you; completing the challenge clears that immediately.
Instances
- Added
nitter.xitter.ccto the built-in list. - Removed
nitter.kareem.one, which has been returning 502 and is no longer tracked by the health service. It remains permitted, so it will come back into use automatically if it recovers.
