github dedicatedcode/reitti v5.9.0

Hey everyone, Daniel here!

Welcome to Reitti v5.9.0! This release introduces a feature many of you have been asking for: a full notification system with support for both in-app alerts and external push services, plus daily update checks and an important fix for custom raster map styles.

Here is what is new in this release:

Notifications: In-App, ntfy.sh, Apprise, and Update Checks

I have added a flexible notification framework to Reitti (#1354). Whether you like keeping things self-contained or prefer push alerts on your phone, you can now stay informed about what is happening on your instance.

Supported Channels

  • In-app notifications: View alerts directly in the Reitti web UI.
  • ntfy.sh: Connect to your own ntfy instance or the public service for instant mobile/desktop push notifications.
  • Apprise: Send alerts through almost any messaging service or webhook supported by Apprise.

Granular Topics & New Version Check

You have complete control over what you want to hear about: you can pick and choose which topics trigger notifications so your inbox stays clean.

As part of this, Reitti now includes a daily check for new releases. Once a day, your instance will check if a newer version of Reitti is available and notify you, making it much easier to keep your server up to date without constantly checking GitHub.

Bugfix: Map Styles & Raster JSON Validation

A big thank you to @FresImmuc for spotting this issue (#1356 ).

A few versions ago, I missed a couple of adjustments needed for custom raster map styles, which caused them to not apply properly and broke map rendering when using certain inputs.

I fixed the underlying issue and added proper validation for the style configuration. Reitti now inspects what is passed into the raster style field, verifies whether it is a valid style JSON or map style JSON, and reports clear errors instead of failing silently or breaking the map view.

Translations & Community

  • Weblate Updates: Translations have been updated across several languages. Thanks as always to everyone contributing on Hosted Weblate to keep Reitti accessible around the world!

Word of mouth is what keeps reitti growing. If you know someone looking for a private Google Timeline alternative, a way to geotag their Immich library, or an open Street View to contribute to, mention reitti. I would much rather spend my time writing code than posting on social media, so every mention helps more than you know.

If you want to support the project financially, there are now two ways to do it:

Getting Started

The latest docker-compose.yml is available in the GitHub release assets. Pull the new image, restart, done. There is nothing to configure and no migration to run.
