Reitti v5.8.1 Release Notes
Hey everyone, Daniel here! π
Reitti v5.8.1 is a small follow-up release to fix a bug discovered in the Workbench right after my recent framework updates, along with complete French translations for the new statistics page and updated documentation.
Here is what is in this release:
Bugfix: Workbench Timeline Patching
A big shoutout to @svenimvan for spotting and reporting this one.
When I recently upgraded to Spring Boot 4.0, the underlying Jackson library used to read JSON from the frontend was also updated. Unfortunately, this introduced a sneaky bug where it failed to parse the startTime and endTime fields properly. As a result, the parser defaulted back to 1970 (epoch 0) and patched an empty time range onto your timeline.
I have fixed this, and patching a device onto your timeline in the Workbench works smoothly again (#1350).
Community & Translations: Complete French Coverage
The French community did it again! Thanks to our contributors on Hosted Weblate (#1335), all strings, including the brand-new statistics section introduced in v5.8.0βare now fully translated into French.
Thank you so much to everyone putting time and care into keeping Reitti accessible in different languages.
Documentation
- README Statistics Update (#1347): I updated the main README with detailed descriptions and explanations for the new statistics features rolled out in v5.8.0.
Trivia
I randomly searched for Reitti today and was surprised and grateful to discover that someone packaged Reitti for Arch Linux! It is now available in the AUR: aur.archlinux.org/packages/reitti. A big thank you to the maintainer who put that together. Seeing the project pop up in package repositories like this makes my day.
Word of mouth is what keeps reitti growing. If you know someone looking for a private Google Timeline alternative, a way to geotag their Immich library, or an open Street View to contribute to, mention reitti. I would much rather spend my time writing code than posting on social media, so every mention helps more than you know.
If you want to support the project financially, there are now two ways to do it:
