This is essentially a maintenance release of WavPack as there have been no significant defects fixed or features added. However, it’s been a year since 5.8.0, and there have been a number of minor fixes and enhancements.
Probably the most significant feature is the added ability of the wvtag application to copy existing tags verbatim from one WavPack file to another, which is something that came in very handy for me recently.
As before, the binaries for macOS are generously provided by HomeBrew, so check there for an update to 5.9.0.
For Windows, binaries are provided here, along with special binaries for Windows XP that have multithreading disabled (which isn’t available on XP). For developers, a package with the updated WavPack DLLs is provided.
For the complete list of minor fixes and improvements, see the official NEWS file.
