Table Tennis PC Recompilation v1.0.4 — First-Run Loading Fix
Fix: music plays, but Loading Main Menu never ends
On a first launch with no saved game, the game asks whether to create one. The intro-skip loading overlay covered that question and automatic Start input blocked the A/B choices, making the game appear to load forever. This could also happen after letting the intro play and pressing Start at the title screen.
This release makes startup message dialogs visible and interactive. Automatic Start input pauses while a choice is needed. Release the skip button, then use the normal on-screen choices. The game does not silently create a save or choose to play without saving.
Already installed? Repair in the same folder
- Download Install-Table-Tennis.exe from this release and open it.
- Select your own supported retail Table Tennis ISO and the same installation folder you used before (default
%LOCALAPPDATA%\TableTennisPC). - Click Install / Recheck, wait for the rebuild, then click Play.
- At Saved Game / No saved game data found, choose A to create a saved game or B to continue without saving. Follow any further confirmation on screen.
Existing saves and graphics settings are retained. No deletion or manual component reinstallation is required. Keep the ISO available during play and start the game through tabletennis_launcher.exe.
This also includes the v1.0.3 fix for an existing ISO being rejected with --game_data_root does not exist.
Validation
Reproduced the endless overlay using an isolated profile with no save, then visually checked the corrected dialog and main menu. Private input replay covered early intro skip, create-save/confirmation, continue without saving, restart with the new save, and letting the full intro play before pressing Start. A held confirmation did not select Tournament, and D-pad navigation worked afterward. No new physical-controller test was performed.
The release's normal source was rebuilt without replay instrumentation. All nine synthetic tests and the opt-in ISO runtime regression passed. Full gameplay progress save/load was not revalidated.
PC recompilation highlights
The Xbox 360 classic, recompiled to native Windows x64 with DirectX 12, plus settings and convenience improvements for PC players:
- Up to 4K / Ultra HD: choose 720p, 1080p, 1440p or 4K output. The 1440p and 4K presets raise internal 3D rendering to 2× and 3× per axis respectively.
- High-refresh options: choose 60, 120, 144 or 240 FPS targets, or Unlocked for uncapped presentation. The high-refresh modes enable the variable-refresh presentation path for compatible setups.
- Image filters and smoother edges: optional AMD FidelityFX FSR, CAS sharpening, FXAA and FXAA Extreme, with Bilinear and AA Off options too.
- Your display, your settings: fullscreen/windowed mode and a graphical launcher that remembers resolution, framerate and filter choices.
- Useful PC shortcuts: toggle the live FPS/frame-time overlay with F10, and exit to Windows with Escape.
- Gamepad-friendly startup: controller detection before the intro; press a gamepad button to stop the movie immediately and continue to the menu after loading.
- A working offline main menu: Xbox Live removed, correct Options/Extras navigation, and a large antialiased loading message during the transition.
Actual FPS depends on hardware, scene and settings. The 1080p preset uses 1× internal rendering with the selected presentation filter. See the full PC enhancements and resolution table.
Downloads and preview status
Players only need Install-Table-Tennis.exe. The optional Table-Tennis-Local-Build-v1.0.4.zip is source for developers. SHA256SUMS.txt verifies both downloads.
This remains an unsigned preview. First-time Microsoft component installation and the previously blocked SDK-download path remain unverified on a completely clean Windows PC. The installer does not change Windows security settings.
The public EXE is our own installer, not the game. It embeds exactly 32 reviewed source files, with no ISO, retail menu archive, XEX, generated game functions, prebuilt game executable, replay instrumentation or test saves. Game material is prepared locally from your own supported USA/Europe retail ISO. Local generation is not a legal guarantee.
