A charger no longer shows up as the cable
Some chargers introduce themselves to the Mac as a "passive cable" (there's no proper "charger" type in the USB-C spec, so they put whatever they like in that field). On a port where the cable's own chip isn't read, that left the charger showing as the connected cable, for example "Connected device: Passive cable, Anker" under the cable details. What's fixed
- A charger that reports itself as a cable is now labelled as the charger. When something is drawing power on the port and claims to be a cable, WhatCable shows "Charger identified as ..." instead of treating it as the connected cable.
