Added

  • Conditions stop a room updating while they aren't met, for example if you don't want motion sensors to trigger at night. They work as they do in any automation, and the room's trigger IDs are now documented, so a condition can stop just the motion sensors and leave the rest of the room running. Running the automation by hand still works. Thanks to @Nox3210 for the idea (#342).

Changed

  • FLARE needs Home Assistant 2026.11.0 or newer. If you're on 2026.10, stay on FLARE 2.0 until you update.
  • Additional Triggers now takes any trigger, not just entities. For example, a room can update when the TV starts playing or a button is pressed. As before, they only adjust lights that are already on. Entities you'd already listed keep working: they've moved to Settings as Additional Trigger Entities.
  • Sensors From Areas is hidden unless you've turned it off. To leave a sensor out, use Exclude target in Lights & Occupancy.
  • The blueprint's settings are reorganised by phase, with nothing to change in your rooms. Under Customise, each phase has its own section with its Lights Off, Idle Brightness and Scene, and Custom holds the templates and Additional Triggers. Under Fine Tuning: Sensors & Conditions, Transitions and Other Settings. Many settings have shorter names and plainer descriptions.

Deprecated

  • Additional Trigger Entities will be removed in FLARE 3.0. Add a State trigger for each of its entities to Additional Triggers instead.

Fixed

  • Some lights were marked overridden by FLARE's own updates. Some bulbs, often RGB LED strips, handle colour oddly: Home Assistant sends them an RGB colour in place of the colour temperature FLARE asked for. FLARE now records what Home Assistant actually sent, and checks the light against that. Thanks to @LotharMadsson (#350).
  • Dimmers and on/off lights are no longer marked overridden when nobody has touched them. Home Assistant drops the colour FLARE sends a light that can't show one, and the brightness it sends an on/off light, but FLARE still expected the light to show them, so the first report it made of its own marked it overridden. FLARE now compares only what a light can show.
