Floppy Weekly Release Recap

Changes since last release:

  • Your lists can have tiers now — Sort lists into a Tiers view, fill tiers from your ratings, and export the finished board as an image.

  • Videos fit into the tracker — Track videos as their own media type and see plays in History, with expanded support for YouTube across all surfaces on the way.

  • Home can mix media types the way you want — Build cross-media rows and set card preferences by media type; the Home settings now keep their saved order.

  • Floppy fits better on phones — The phone and iPhone Duo layouts use the screen more fully, with compact media details, clearer chip cards, and improved landscape and unfolded views.

  • TV and phone apps can sign in with a device code — Use the device-code flow instead of wrestling a full login form onto a remote-controlled screen.

  • Music has more room to breathe — Open dedicated track details, follow SoundCloud and Spotify play links, and see genre context on music pages and scrobbles.

  • External tools can find and collect titles more precisely — Recommendations are available through an API, and scripts can collect or list titles by provider ID.

  • Rating controls cover more of how you track — Turn ratings off when you do not want them, or rate an episode even if you never marked it watched.

  • Imports and larger libraries hit fewer rough edges — Fixes cover duplicate SIMKL library entries, long-show Home/TV errors, book details, and clearer upload-staging failures; background jobs can use your own provider keys.

  • Self-hosting gets clearer recovery signals — Logs stay with the data volume, crashes leave markers, and migration/release-build checks catch more problems before they surprise you.

A Note About Floppy

I'm still not a professional developer; I'm an enthusiastic maintainer using AI coding tools to build the media tracker I want to use. Floppy is a standalone project based on the incredible work of FuzzyGrim/Yamtrack, independently maintained and supported by @dannyvfilms. Yamtrack import and documented compatibility paths remain supported, but users install Floppy directly rather than treating an upstream container replacement as a migration plan.

Docker Updates: You can pull the canonical Floppy image at any time:

ghcr.io/dannyvfilms/floppy:latest

The legacy ghcr.io/dannyvfilms/yamtrack:latest image path remains available during the transition for existing Floppy installations. Please use the supported import path when moving data from upstream Yamtrack, preserve the original database, and test on a copy first. A container image swap is a one-way migration, so if you are coming from upstream Yamtrack test in parallel and import your data. Changing your container image runs migrations you cannot roll back.

Contributing: Floppy-specific bug reports, feature requests, integration ideas, and pull requests are welcome in this repository. Thanks to this week's first-time contributor, @crimsonsunset, for the music-track and YouTube work, plus everyone who reported problems or helped surface the edges that needed repair.

If you have time to help answer questions in the Discord, that would be appreciated. I’ll try to be active there, but GitHub is still keeping most of my attention, so additional support from contributors will help. There's also an extremely underdeveloped Website if anybody wants to share the project.

Thanks for understanding, and happy tracking!
