Cairn 126 for the SenseCAP MeshPager X2 -- test build (2026-11-01)
New in this build:
- Built from Cairn 126, with everything from Cairn 125 and 126.
- Cyrillic: Russian, Ukrainian and other Cyrillic letters show as text in chats and lists. Reading only.
- GPS data: the cells grow to fill the screen, with bigger values where they fit.
It replaces the firmware you have now, as before.
FLASH IT (Chrome or Edge on a computer)
1. Open https://espressif.github.io/esptool-js/
2. Plug the X2 in with a USB-C data cable. Click Connect and pick its port.
No port, or it won't connect: unplug it, hold the Back key (the right orange key), plug it back in,
let go, then Connect again.
3. Flash Address 0x0, file MeshCore-MeshPagerX2-Cairn126-2026-11-01-full.bin, then Program.
4. When it says done, press Disconnect, unplug the X2 and plug it back in.
WHAT TO TRY (with the console open, as before: 115200 baud, from power-up)
0. Power off, the important one. With the X2 on battery (USB unplugged, so after this step plug it
back in to read the log, or keep USB in and note what happens):
a. Unlocked: hold the power key until "Power off?" appears, let go, choose Yes.
b. Locked: hold the power key. Does "Power off?" appear on the lock screen? Choose No: is it still
locked?
c. Hold the power key and keep holding for 10 seconds without touching anything else. Does the X2
switch off by itself while you hold it? After how many seconds?
The console shows "X2KEY GPIO9 (power) up, held N ms" for each hold, and "X2PWR powerOff by the
firmware" when the firmware did it. If the X2 went off with no such line, the board did it on its own.
1. Unlock: tap Power to lock. Hold Enter for 2 s: it should stay locked. Then 2x Enter: unlocked?
2. Charging: plug USB in with the battery below full. Does the battery show Charging? Unplug: does it
go back to the battery level?
3. Band scan: Radio tab, tap the signal graph, then Band. Does it sweep and draw?
4. USB drive: Settings > Storage > USB drive. Does the card appear on the computer? Restart the X2.
5. Air pressure: in the Cairn app, open the X2's own telemetry. Is there a pressure (about 1000 hPa
near sea level, less higher up)?
6. Lift to wake: Settings > Hardware > Lock > Lift to wake on. Let the screen go dark, put the X2 down
for a few seconds, then pick it up. Does the screen light at once?
7. Copy everything in the console and send it, saying what happened at each step.
Still worth a try from build 4 if you didn't: sound (a message tone, the Recorder), GPS outside, the
compass (the console's "X2MAG" lines), Battery saver, and the clock after power-off.
NOT IN THIS BUILD YET
The USB-C power-delivery chip.
