This v7 prerelease makes Library a persistent inventory of configured sources, including items that have never been searched.
Inventory and onboarding
- Configuring torrent clients, torrent directories, or data directories queues an inventory refresh.
- Library shows persisted items, files, source counts, and scan status, with automatic refresh and cursor pagination.
- Failed sources keep their last-known inventory; successful empty scans and removed sources reconcile stale items.
- Scans serialize with cleanup, watcher recovery rescans missed changes, and unchanged torrents reuse cached inventory on startup.
- Dashboard indexed-item counts are separate from search history.
- Invalid legacy config imports no longer persist defaults that prevent recovery after the config is repaired.
Other changes since v7.0.0-22
- rTorrent SCGI support over TCP or Unix sockets, bounded transport retries, and corrected injection/hash-check handling.
- qBittorrent 5.3+ seed-mode support and corrected handling of empty torrent lists.
- Hybrid torrent metadata survives decode/re-encode without changing its info hash.
- Hardened torrent name parsing and updated security dependencies.
- Include Zod in the npm bundle so standalone global installations start correctly.
- Improved book/audio title parsing, client settings validation, and Deluge label/session handling.
Upgrading
This is a v7 prerelease. v6 remains the stable release. Node.js 26 or newer is required for npm installations.
Available on npm as cross-seed@next (7.0.0-23):
npm install --global cross-seed@nextThe stable latest channel remains on 6.13.9. Docker images are published, and standalone binaries for Linux, macOS, and Windows (x64 and ARM64) are attached below, alongside the validated npm tarball.
Back up the complete configuration directory, including the database, while cross-seed is stopped before upgrading. This release adds inventory migrations 18 and 19; migration tests verify that existing settings and search history are preserved. Allow the first source scan to finish before judging Library counts. To roll back, restore the pre-upgrade backup with the previous version.
Validation
282 tests pass, along with build, typechecking, lint, and local browser checks for source setup, persistence across restart, failure recovery, automatic Library refresh, and source removal.
