This release adds a much more complete contact-management and Gofer Sync workflow, while improving Gmail recovery, account diagnostics, mail filtering, and everyday interface behavior.

Highlights

Gofer Sync and editable contacts

  • Contact profiles can now be edited directly in Gofer, including names, contact details, notes, organizations, titles, and avatars.
  • Contact origins are separated from explicit Gofer Sync destinations, avoiding accidental provider changes.
  • Gofer can match existing contacts across configured sync destinations and lets you refine or select matches manually for each account.
  • Ambiguous matches are handled through a one-time conflict-resolution flow.
  • Manual edits can be synchronized to selected accounts with visible sync status and a Sync Now action.
  • Recent contact activity and participant-based mail filtering have been restored and expanded.

Safer Gmail synchronization

  • Missing Gmail history messages are handled through a durable retry queue instead of being discarded immediately.
  • Explicit Gmail deletion events are processed as deletions.
  • Cached messages require repeated missing confirmations before being hidden.
  • Transient Gmail API failures can recover without blocking history cursor progress.
  • Mail search data is refreshed as message bodies become available.

Better mail filtering and organization

  • Mail and contacts now support persistent sorting.
  • Advanced mail filters include recipients, attachment state and type, custom file extensions, message size, tags, and thread state.
  • Tri-state filters make it possible to explicitly include, exclude, or ignore attachments, tags, and threads.
  • The filter interface has been reorganized into a more compact and responsive workflow.
  • Sender and recipient avatars can be previewed directly from mail views.

Improved account diagnostics

  • Account connection tests now open in a dedicated dialog with stable progress and result states.
  • Gmail accounts are tested through the Gmail API, Outlook accounts through Microsoft Graph, and generic accounts through IMAP and SMTP.
  • Transient connection failures are retried before being reported.
  • Persisted mail-sync failures now appear as a compact alert on the affected account, with details available in a popover.
  • Account actions, provider indicators, deletion feedback, and service controls have been refined.

Browser and interface integration

  • Gofer can register as a handler for mailto: links and open a prefilled composer.
  • Pending mailto: actions survive sign-in.
  • A web application manifest and application favicon are now included.
  • Mail-sync progress, loading states, dropdown behavior, IDLE fallback warnings, and application toasts have been polished.

Upgrade notes

  • The database schema is upgraded automatically from version 68 to version 76 on first launch.
  • The upgrade introduces new contact synchronization, Gmail recovery, and browser-integration state.
  • Backing up the Gofer database before upgrading is recommended while the application remains in alpha.
  • Browser registration for mailto: links still requires explicit user approval.
  • Gmail messages temporarily missing from the provider API may remain visible while Gofer retries or confirms their removal.

Gofer remains alpha software intended primarily for local use. Please do not expose it directly to the public internet.
