🎉 Microsoft accounts without any setup
I've wanted this one for a long time: you can now connect Outlook and Microsoft 365 mailboxes to Gofer without creating your own app registration in Azure.
When you add an Outlook account, Gofer shows you a short code. Click the button, paste the code on Microsoft's sign-in page, and Gofer finishes connecting the account by itself once you're done.
This works through Gofer's own Microsoft registration, verified under my company, Jedna Software. Since the sign-in happens with a code instead of a redirect back to your server, it also works if you run Gofer at home, on a LAN address or over plain HTTP.
You can still bring your own app registration if you prefer, or if your organization restricts which apps can access its mailboxes. See the notes below.
For administrators
- Outlook is now offered on installs that never configured Microsoft. To hide it, set
MICROSOFT_OAUTH_CLIENT_ID=off. - Your own registration still takes priority. Setting
MICROSOFT_OAUTH_CLIENT_IDto your own client ID uses it. With a client secret it keeps the redirect flow. Without one it uses a device code, and the registration needs "Allow public client flows". - Some organizations block device code sign-in with Conditional Access. Their users should use the organization's own registration.
- No database changes. Upgrading and downgrading are both safe.
