This release reworks the mail list toolbar, adds more ways to sort, brings new mail notifications to Gmail and Outlook, and keeps every copy of a message in a folder in step.
Mail list
- The toolbar is reworked. View controls sit together on the left, and message actions appear on the right only while messages are selected. Labels and Spam are buttons of their own now.
- The toolbar no longer wraps onto a second row. When space runs out, it moves buttons into the ⋮ menu step by step.
- Read and Star switch to Mark as unread and Unstar when every selected message already has them.
- The list can now be sorted by size, or with unread, starred or with-attachments conversations first.
- The card layout editor is easier to use: bigger drop zones, fields with visible edges, and the same size rules wherever a field is placed.
- The date field has an "Always show time" option, so older dates read like "Yesterday, 6:30 PM".
New mail
- Gmail and Outlook accounts now send web push and desktop notifications for new mail, like IMAP and JMAP accounts already did.
- While Gofer is open, it checks the Outlook Inbox for changes every 30 seconds and syncs as soon as something arrives, instead of waiting for the regular sync.
Messages with more than one copy in a folder (#13)
- When a folder holds two copies of the same message, Gofer now keeps track of both. The message still shows once.
- Read, starred, move, delete and labels reach every copy on the server, on Gmail, Outlook and JMAP, in both single-user and managed mode.
- Each copy keeps its own labels, so a sync of one copy no longer drops or brings back labels set on another.
Contacts and calendar
- Choosing an address book or account in the contacts sidebar now shows the contacts imported from it, rather than every contact synced there. The Origin filter lists each address book under its account.
- Escape deselects the open contact.
- Each calendar in the sidebar has a button to show only that calendar. Click it again to show them all.
Easier to read
- Hovered menu items stand out clearly in the Classic and Minimal themes, and menu items have a little space between them.
- Toolbar icons in the reading pane are brighter, and faint icons no longer show dark spots where their lines overlap.
Fixes and improvements
- JMAP accounts only read their mailboxes again when more than their unread and total counts changed, so each sync makes fewer requests.
- JMAP accounts no longer fill the log with "JMAP mail sync isn't available yet" messages.
Upgrade notes
- ⚠️ This release upgrades the database (schema 121). You can't go back to an older release afterwards, so back up your data directory first.
Gofer remains pre-1.0. I'm actively using and improving it, but please keep backups and test your setup before relying on it for anything critical.
