This update contains changes to the Firefox configuration and Google Chrome configuration. You can install Just the Browser again to get the latest versions. Existing users on other browsers do not need to update, unless the settings are not working.
Configuration settings
- Chrome's AI-powered "Help Me Read" feature is now blocked (but is currently only rolled out on ChromeOS anyway)
- Chrome is now blocked from using generative AI to fill out form fields
- Chrome will no longer "suggest AI capabilities at relevant moments"
- Chrome will no longer use AI Mode integrations from any third-party search engine set as the browser's default search
- Firefox's AI features can now be turned back on individually if desired, instead of being fully locked by the configuration
- Firefox is now blocked from showing sponsored suggestions as you type in the address bar
- Firefox's "Search Image with Google Lens" feature in the right-click context menu is now blocked, since it uses Google's AI Mode, (Chrome's equivalent menu was already disabled in the Chrome configuration)
