Engine: senpi 2026.9.18-4
Kimi K2.8 Preview gets the Kimi prompt. Moonshot rolled K2.8 out across Kimi Code on 2026-09-11 and upgraded the kimi-for-coding model id in place, so every Kimi Code session has been served by K2.8 while omo matched no Kimi rule for it. Both lanes now route it to the Kimi K2.7 prompt: the engine gains a kimi-k2-8 preset that renders the K2.7 prompt verbatim apart from the model name it announces, and the opencode side sends K2.8 to the same prompt across Sisyphus, Sisyphus Junior, Atlas and Metis, where an unmatched Kimi id used to fall through to the K2.6 one. K2.8 is an efficiency and context upgrade inside the same K2 coding family, and the prompting contract is unchanged, so it shares the prompt instead of getting a copy that would drift. Moonshot's model table still lists kimi-for-coding-highspeed as K2.7 Code HighSpeed, so that id resolves to the K2.7 prompt too. The version-tagged shapes land there as well: moonshotai/kimi-k2.8, the k2p8 shorthands, and a catalog row whose display name says Kimi K2.8 Preview. You can still force any of it with promptPreset, which now accepts "kimi-k2-8". (#8466, senpi #1826)
A busy daemon keeps its sessions. An ensure used to end a host that missed the protocol probe budget, which on a loaded machine meant killing a daemon that was answering fine and taking every live session with it. A host whose socket still accepts connections is now refused as host_busy instead of replaced.
Releases stop losing a hand-shipped provider. When models.dev stops describing a provider the fork ships itself, a catalog regeneration used to drop it out of the built-in catalog entirely. kimi-coding is now owned by the fork the way devin already was, so it survives a regeneration that upstream no longer covers.
