This is a beta. The Google Play Store production version is still the previous release, so the regular-release APK below is not yet what Play serves. Please report problems at https://github.com/christianrowlands/android-network-survey/issues
What's Changed
Network Survey 2.0 rebuilds the whole app. Your settings carry over on upgrade, and a one-time welcome shows what your survey became.
WHAT'S NEW
- One survey with one Start and one Stop. On the Survey tab, pick the record types to survey (Cellular, Phone state, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS, and Call records) and the destinations they go to (Log files, MQTT, gRPC, NS Analytics, OpenCelliD and BeaconDB).
- Save what is selected as a named setup and switch between setups with one tap. Starred setups are listed first.
- Four tabs replace the side menu: Survey (replacing the Dashboard and Survey Monitor), Signals (Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GNSS), Map, and More.
- One Map tab replaces both the Tower Map and the Survey Monitor map, with the serving cell card and your survey points. It keeps the Tower Map's settings.
- Each destination has its own page with its status, and the Survey screen and the notification show the same status. MQTT can save more than one broker. Streams hold records while they connect, and the Survey tab lists anything still waiting to upload.
- The Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GNSS screens are rebuilt. Every value is still there, long press copies one, and when a missing permission, location or a radio being off stops a screen, it says so with one button to fix it.
- Filter the Bluetooth list by name, address or company, or show only named devices or only Find My trackers.
- A short first run on a fresh install explains each permission and asks where your data should go. The "Enable Location" dialog and the "Please turn on GPS" toast no longer appear on every launch, and background location is only requested when the survey is set to start automatically.
- A new look: light and dark themes (or follow the system), a choice of accent colors, a new launcher icon, and a rebuilt Settings screen. Every screen can now be translated.
CHANGES TO KNOW ABOUT
- GeoPackage log files are removed. Log files are CSV, one file per record type.
- Every destination receives every record type it can carry; the per-destination record type switches are gone. Phone state now follows Cellular.
- Translations whose meaning changed were removed, so some screens show English until they are translated again on Weblate.
- Managed configuration (MDM) has new keys for record types, destinations and auto start, and the existing keys still work. A setting the organization sets shows "Set by your organization" in Settings, on the Survey screen and on the destination pages.
NS Messaging API
This release runs on NS Messaging API version 2.6.0.
APK Downloads
Each variant is built as per-architecture APKs for smaller download sizes. Most users should download the arm64-v8a APK (almost all modern Android phones). If unsure, use the universal APK which works on all devices but is larger.

The regular-release APK is the same as what can be found on the Google Play Store which contains the tracking library Google Analytics. The cdr-release APK is the same as the regular-release APK, but with full CDR support (See README.md for more details) and it also does NOT contain ANY tracking libraries such as Google Analytics.
