NV-UV v0.99.4 brings a lot of changes, so let's get started. :)
๐ง New MSI Afterburner Setup Assistant
The biggest new feature is the completely redesigned MSI Afterburner Setup assistant.
Hopefully, the days of preparing MSI Afterburner manually for NV-UV are now over. The assistant finds Afterburner even when it is closed or installed in a custom location, checks the required General and Monitoring settings in read-only mode first, and shows exactly what is missing.
If you choose Automatic setup, NV-UV:
- creates backups of both Afterburner configuration files;
- changes only the settings shown in the confirmation window;
- enables the correct voltage-monitoring source for the detected NVIDIA GPU;
- applies the settings through Afterburner itself;
- restarts Afterburner when required;
- verifies the GPU mapping and live telemetry afterwards;
- automatically restores the previous configuration if validation fails.
The assistant supports localized Afterburner sensor names, custom installation paths, and systems with Intel or AMD integrated graphics alongside an NVIDIA GPU.
Validated MSI Afterburner versions
- MSI Afterburner 4.6.6 Build 16757
- MSI Afterburner 4.6.7 Beta 2 Build 16935
- MSI Afterburner 4.6.7 Beta 3 Build 17352
- MSI Afterburner 4.6.7 Beta 4 Build 17439
๐ก๏ธ Native GPUProbe Hotspot Support with Afterburner Beta 4
MSI Afterburner 4.6.7 Beta 4 introduces the native GPUProbe backend,
and NV-UV v0.99.4 can now use it directly on supported NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs.
NV-UV enables the registered GPU and VRAM sources, restarts Afterburner in a controlled way, and accepts the hotspot sensor only after five plausible live measurements. If an older NV-UV-managed hotspot plugin is already installed, NV-UV tests the new native path first and removes the legacy plugin only after GPUProbe has passed validation. If anything fails, the previous working state is restored automatically.
Beta 2 and Beta 3 continue to use the existing NV-UV legacy hotspot path. Beta 4 prefers Afterburner's native GPUProbe path.
๐ Expanded Telemetry with Afterburner Beta 4
Together with Beta 4, NV-UV's telemetry has been expanded considerably. The compact view shows the most important values at a glance, while additional details can be expanded when needed.
Especially the new VRAM telemetry is worth a closer look:
- current GPU and VRAM clocks;
- GPU hotspot temperature and temperature delta;
- hottest available VRAM channel;
- expandable temperatures for the individual VRAM ICs or modules;
- VRAM temperature spread;
- expandable fan-control channels and RPM values.
๐ฏ Curve Point โ Quick-Lock
Clicking a point on the V/F curve now transfers its voltage and clock directly into Quick-Lock. Mode, voltage slider, reference value, target and calculated offset are updated together.
Selecting a curve point only prepares the values. Nothing is written to the GPU until you press Apply UV.
๐งญ GPU-Agnostic Multi-GPU and iGPU Handling
NV-UV no longer assumes that the target graphics card must always be GPU1 or GPU2 in MSI Afterburner.
The detected NVIDIA GPU may also appear as GPU3, GPU4, GPU5 or another number.
If enabling or disabling an Intel or AMD iGPU changes Afterburner's numbering, the Setup assistant can safely remap the primary Afterburner GPU and the matching voltage source to the correct NVIDIA card.
๐ก๏ธ Stronger GPU, VBIOS and Crossflash Protection
Hotspot state, presets and calibration data are now tied more closely to the actual GPU, SUBSYS, VBIOS and Afterburner environment.
A GPU or VBIOS change pauses presets, slots, Game Library, UV-Pilot, Replay and automatic profile starts until the correct identity returns or a controlled recalibration has been completed. Real RTX 5090 dual-BIOS/crossflash round trips, a swap to an RTX 5070 Ti and different iGPU states were tested during development.
๐ Replay and Hard-Crash Recovery
Replay Adjustments now also shows corrections made without an active UV-Pilot session or a recognized game. Manual and unknown cases remain history only and are never reused blindly.
After a hard crash, exactly one downstep remains pending. Further corrections are blocked until that value has been written successfully after the restart.
๐ฎ Game Pass and Microsoft Store Improvements
Running Game Pass and Microsoft Store games can now be selected without requiring access to their protected installation folders. NV-UV prioritizes the process with the visible game window and centrally rejects shared Windows hosts and permanently running Xbox/Gaming services.
Once UV-Pilot recognizes the game, Smart Hz can switch from Desktop to Gaming mode as usual.
๐ฎ Game Database
- Game database v2.14 with 646 games.
- Improved process filtering for shared Windows and Xbox service identities.
๐ฅ Afterburner's New V/F Hit Map
One Beta 4 feature I personally really like is MSI Afterburner's new V/F Hit Map, created by Unwinder.
It shows which areas of the V/F curve your GPU has actually been using and how frequently those points were hit.
I think this is a great addition for anyone who enjoys tuning and refining GPU curves.
Open MSI Afterburner's Curve Editor and press M to try it yourself. This feature alone makes Beta 4 well worth checking out.
A huge thank you to Alexey โUnwinderโ Nicolaychuk for GPUProbe, the new Hit Map and his continued work on MSI Afterburner.

๐ Notes
- Blackwell hotspot monitoring remains experimental and read-only.
- The additional Beta 4 VRAM channels depend on what GPUProbe and the specific graphics card expose.
- Thank you to everyone who helped test MSI Afterburner upgrades, native GPUProbe migration, GPU1/GPU2 remapping, iGPU changes and the many recovery edge cases. This update became much larger, and much safer, because of your real-world testing. ๐ฏ
