NV-UV Play v2.1.7

pre-release4 hours ago

Hey everyone, thanks for all the interest in Play!

To be honest, I wasn’t planning to add an overlay to Play at all. My first thought was: RTSS already does this really well, and NVIDIA’s overlay has become a good option too. But people kept asking for one in Play, so I decided to give it a go. And from your feedback, that little extra has turned out to be something quite a few of you enjoy using.

I also learned that many of you already use RTSS or NVIDIA’s overlay alongside Play. That got me thinking: I want to make things easier, but I don’t want to replace tools that already do their job really well. Connecting Play with both seemed like the natural next step.

NVIDIA’s overlay is something many of you already have installed. RTSS has been around for years and hardly needs an introduction. You can now put together your layout and readings in Play and choose which output you want to use.

Especially with RTSS, there’s still much more you can do in the tool itself. Spend a little time with its settings and you’ll find plenty of possibilities for layouts and sensor sources.

And if you already have your own overlay set up just the way you like it, keep using it! Play’s overlay features are completely optional.

I’ve also reworked the overlay menu to make it easier to use. Several fixes based on your reports are included, and there are a few new options for the curve enthusiasts too. Here’s a quick look at what’s changed.

Overlay

  • Choose Play, RTSS or NVIDIA output and matching templates. Mixed combines available readings from different sources.
  • Reworked controls with drag-and-drop readings, multi-step Undo, separate label/value text sizes and independent frametime graph settings. Configure NVIDIA's own overlay from Play.
  • Improved Play/RTSS frametime graphs and reworked value updates in NVIDIA output. Removed unavailable NVIDIA Frametime; saved selections switch to Play ETW. Fixed RTSS version detection.
  • Clearer driver-reported G-SYNC/VRR status and a native DLSS indicator option.
  • NVIDIA integration remains experimental; fullscreen and anti-cheat compatibility varies by game.

Curves and profiles

  • Loading profiles into slots or saving parameter edits to slotted profiles activates them when Play is ready; point edits remain drafts. Profile shortcuts also work in the editor.
  • Clearer captured GPU curve and optional target comparison. Enable per-profile algorithm selection under Advanced Curve Options.
  • Voltage Lock adjusts its generated curve using readback during Apply. Frequency differences remain diagnostic. Hard Lock no longer carries the experimental label.

Fan control

  • Up to six editable points for BIOS-based starting curves and improved software-to-BIOS conversion. Existing saved curves retain their points.
  • Reset selects Default without overwriting profiles. Reselecting a profile restores its saved curves; saving after Reset creates a Custom profile.
  • Per-fan Undo also supports synced curves through Fan 1. Apply & save activates edits.
  • Delete the last saved fan profile, use the dark Profile actions menu and keep using the main window while Fan control is open.

Interface and Stabilizer

  • Advanced options sections start collapsed and remember their state. Improved General settings, notifications and Stabilizer sizing; Settings now has a fixed Close button.
  • Diagnostic descriptions are clearly marked as required. Fixed secondary-GPU process startup and clarified NVIDIA overlay GPU selection.
  • Advanced tuning separates card-specific ranges from technical format limits and remains experimental.

More about this update

  • Database 2.44: 742 entries. Added Total War: PHARAOH DYNASTIES, RoboCop: Rogue City - Unfinished Business and Unigine Heaven 4.0. Heaven uses Performance.

Diagnostics and feedback

  • Improved game-detection diagnostics. The reported Halo activation remains under investigation.
  • If an issue remains, send a diagnostic report with a brief description and reproduction steps. For overlay issues, include the game and display mode.
