Perf ’n Providers

Hi! This is a small but mighty mini release with two important changes. Read on for details.

File search performance improvements

@jamestrew rolled in hot and juiced perf in the file search utility (you know, the one that appears when you press /). It’s way better in large repos. If this sort of thing is your bag you can read more about it in #1193.

New providers, right away

Prior to this release Crush would load provider and model updates from Catwalk, the Crush model service, when starting…then not display them until you relaunched Crush. That was silly. Now updated providers and models update as soon as they’re loaded.

Verifying the artifacts

First, download the checksums.txt file, for example, with wget:

wget 'https://github.com/charmbracelet/crush/releases/download/v0.12.1/checksums.txt'

Then, verify it using cosign:

cosign verify-blob \
  --certificate-identity 'https://github.com/charmbracelet/meta/.github/workflows/goreleaser.yml@refs/heads/main' \
  --certificate-oidc-issuer 'https://token.actions.githubusercontent.com' \
  --cert 'https://github.com/charmbracelet/crush/releases/download/v0.12.1/checksums.txt.pem' \
  --signature 'https://github.com/charmbracelet/crush/releases/download/v0.12.1/checksums.txt.sig' \
  ./checksums.txt

If the output is Verified OK, you can safely use it to verify the checksums of other artifacts you downloaded from the release using sha256sum:

sha256sum --ignore-missing -c checksums.txt

Done! You artifacts are now verified!
