Install it with the web installer in Chrome or Edge, or try it first in the emulator. For details, see the manual.
- MONK-1 now works on the newer FM-1s. Units sold since autumn 2026, mostly on AliExpress, have a different flash chip (UC25HQ80). Until this release, MONK-1 couldn't save on them, back them up or install another firmware. Now it can, and the rescue script takes them too. Thanks to Laurens (@profikid) for the fix (fm1-base#35).
- M-VAVE's updater, M-UPGRADE 3.11 (2026-11-03), didn't find an FM-1 running MONK-1. It said "A USB MIDI device is present but did not answer". This version answers it, so M-UPGRADE can put M-VAVE's firmware back. Older versions of MONK-1 still aren't found: for those, use "Back to the stock firmware" on the install page.
- MONK-1 has a package identity of its own: FM-1_45 and the version (0.10 is FM-1_45001000). Up to 0.9.1 it shared one with MIN-1, and the Firmware Hub asked for the change.
- The installer and the rescue script take M-VAVE's stock firmware V16 as well as V15.
- The site's pages work with a screen reader and the keyboard. In the emulator, every knob, button and key can be reached with the keyboard, and the screen is spoken, as the FM-1 Screen Reader speaks the FM-1's. Keys sing at the keyboard velocity, and a new slider sets the aftertouch.
Releases are now built and attested on GitHub (zvenson/fm1-build), so the Firmware Hub can check where a package came from.
monk-0.10.fwsc is the firmware to install; monk-0.10-app.bin is the bare app image.
