AMB-1 1.3.1

The music is the same: the same pieces, played the same way. This release is about the FM-1 around it.

  • AMB-1 now plays on the newer FM-1s. Units sold since autumn 2026, mostly on AliExpress, have a different flash chip (UC25HQ80). Until this release, AMB-1 couldn't keep your pieces' settings on them, back them up or install another firmware. Now it can, and the rescue script takes them too. Thanks to Laurens (@profikid) for the fix (fm1-base#35).
  • The top line shows the battery: three bars when it's full, fewer as it runs down, red when it's time to charge, and a lightning bolt when the FM-1 is plugged into a computer. The screen reader says it too. Thanks to @Bronislas for asking (#9).
  • M-VAVE's updater, M-UPGRADE 3.11 (2026-11-03), didn't find an FM-1 running AMB-1. It said "A USB MIDI device is present but did not answer". This version answers it, so M-UPGRADE can put M-VAVE's firmware back. Older versions of AMB-1 still aren't found: for those, use "Back to the stock firmware" on the install page.
  • Installing is much quicker from now on. Once AMB-1 1.3.1 is on the FM-1, the next install writes only the parts that changed, and if the cable comes out halfway it carries on at the next power-on.
  • The install page works again. Since late October its Install button stayed greyed out.
  • The install page finds the FM-1 under any port name, checks the package before sending it, and takes M-VAVE's stock firmware V16 as well as V15.
  • The emulator plays in tune and in time on computers whose audio runs at 48 kHz. Before, it played a little high and fast there.

Releases are now built and attested on GitHub (zvenson/fm1-build), so the Firmware Hub can check where a package came from. Each release also carries amb-1.3.1.rfm1 for host apps (RemoteFM1) and firmware.json for firmware hubs.

Your pieces' settings carry over.
