ServiceRadar v1.4.98

This release gives every device a single availability value, fixes
Proxmox consoles and several device identity problems, makes
plugin-result ingestion more reliable, and ships security updates.

Upgrade Notes

  • Device availability. Devices with no availability evidence from
any source now show Unknown instead of Offline (#5984, #6058).
  • Armis northbound. Each source keeps pushing what it pushes
today. Adopting merged availability is a per-source choice on the
integration source page. A source set to merged on an install that
never finished the switch to merged availability keeps its current
value, and the change is recorded (#5980, #6058).
  • SAML. Responses are now strictly validated. A response that uses
a non-standard XML prefix or element, or a DTD, is rejected, and the
warning log names it. IdP metadata is not affected (#6054).
  • Alert evaluation. Fresh installs evaluate alert rules by
default. Upgraded installs keep their current mode until you set
core.alertEvaluation.mode: active; GitOps installs such as Argo CD
    should set it explicitly (#5972).
  • Wasm plugin updates. A first-party plugin release that needs no
new permissions is approved and rolled out automatically, and
existing first-party assignments follow the latest approved
    release. Set webNg.firstPartyPluginImport.autoApproveWithinGrant
or core.wasmPluginAutomaticRollouts to false to keep either step
    manual (#5843, #5845, #5877, #6005).
  • Telemetry retention. CNPG retention set in Helm now takes effect
instead of being reset to defaults each night. The optional
    core.observabilityRetention.defaultDays caps every telemetry
    dataset (#5913, #5963).
  • Exposure intelligence requires StarRocks. Its JetStream streams
are included in the chart's NATS budget; if you size JetStream
yourself, leave room for them (#5976, #5991).
  • Settings. Inventory Cleanup moved to its own page under Network
Services > Discovery, and the old Sweep Profiles tab link redirects
there. Several pages moved groups and keep their URLs (#6040,
    #6053).
  • Agents. Upgraded agents get a smaller sweep configuration, and
older agents keep the previous format, so mixed-version fleets keep
    sweeping during the upgrade (#5986, #5988, #6057).

Whats New

Device availability

  • One merged up/down value now drives the device badge, sorting and
counts, with no operator steps or modes (#5981, #5984, #5997,
    #6001, #6058).

Plugin results

  • Proxmox and AWX plugin results no longer time out during ingestion,
and a result that keeps timing out is quarantined after three
    attempts (#5923, #5999, #6028, #6030).
  • Old plugin-result attempt records are cleaned up automatically:
active ones after 7 days and quarantined ones after 30. Change the
    windows with SERVICERADAR_PLUGIN_RESULT_ATTEMPT_ACTIVE_RETENTION_DAYS
    and SERVICERADAR_PLUGIN_RESULT_QUARANTINE_RETENTION_DAYS (#6077).
  • Agent configuration is generated with less repeated work, so agents
that poll for config changes cost core less (#6076).

Proxmox and identity

  • Agents have an editable display name and description (#5931).
  • Proxmox VM consoles open again; they had been failing since July
    (#5872, #5908, #6039).
  • Duplicate Proxmox node records now converge into one (#6046).
  • Stale AWX hosts retire after the usual absence window, 24 hours by
default, and a failed or partial sync retires nothing (#6010,
    #6022).
  • AWX hosts match their Proxmox VM by address and hostname (#5998,
    #6009).
  • An inventory update for a device whose old record was deleted or
merged away now lands on a fresh record instead of being held back,
and never brings a deleted record back (#6074).
  • Container-bridge and overlay addresses no longer become a device's
    primary IP (#5838, #5883, #5947, #6024).
  • External systems can set a device's switch port and VLAN through
    the source-facts API (#5878, #5953).

Flows and observability

  • Dashboard traffic charts keep outbound counters when a chart hits its
    series limit (#5936).
  • IOC and threat filters and the proximity (near) filters work on
    StarRocks again (#6035, #6049).
  • Flow charts spread each flow's traffic across its interval instead
of booking it at the end time. The NetFlow traffic chart stays
readable when one bucket is an outlier (#5974, #5992, #5915).
  • Threat Intel metrics open investigation views, Attributed Flows show
IOC matches, and OTX retrohunt can run on a schedule (#5907, #5909,
    #5927, #5985).
  • Events and other observability pages load faster. Syslog lines that
start with a timestamp no longer show the timestamp as a service or
    host name (#5906, #6038, #5898).

Settings

  • Inventory Cleanup has its own page, search covers every Settings
page, and the navigation is regrouped, with "Cluster" renamed
    "Platform" (#6040, #6053).

Platform

  • Telemetry ingestion now runs on every core replica and shares the
    load (#6008).
  • During core rolling restarts, alert evaluation waits and retries when
a peer is not ready, with bounded backoff instead of immediate retries
    and misleading error logs (#6088).
  • The plugins page is split into Installed, Updates and Catalog, and
one plugin can run several assignments on an agent when they come
from different rules. Action-only plugins are no longer reported as
stale or unavailable in the plugin fleet (#5874, #6011, #6027, #5899).
  • Groundwork for exposure intelligence and camera archive recording
continues. Exposure data now checks itself daily against the
vulnerability assessments and repairs any drift, and is not reported
ready until that check passes. Camera recording stays off by default
    (#5964, #6041, #6047, #6060, #6081).
  • Authorized clients can list published camera recordings through a
paginated API. Recording remains disabled by default (#6089).
  • Events in StarRocks no longer go missing when a scanner reports the
same event again with a new time, such as a Trivy rescan (#6073).
  • Atlas filtered topology stays visible while panning, RDP viewers
connect more reliably, and StarRocks loading recovers from
    compute-node restarts (#5830, #5831, #5867, #5869, #5876, #5880).

Native add-ons and Wasm plugins

  • The add-on fleet flags scans from outdated scanner versions (#6026).
  • netprobe 0.2.72 reports the package that owns each process
executable (#5914, #6079), bumblebee 0.1.8 reports its own build as the
    scanner version (#5944), awx 0.1.22 and awx-inventory-sync 0.1.17
report rejected or expiring API tokens (#5875, #6023),
    proxmox-inventory 0.1.12 skips container-bridge addresses (#5883),
and dusk-checker 1.0.1 caps its check at 8 seconds (#5938).
  • anomaly 0.3.16, otel-collector 0.1.17, powerdns 0.1.13, rdp 0.1.14
and workload-identity 0.1.12 carry dependency security updates.

Security and Dependencies

  • Bandit 1.14 fixes HTTP/2, HTTP/1 and WebSocket advisories (#6045).
  • Ash, AshPostgres, cowlib, jose and plug_crypto advisories are fixed
    (#5961, #6050).
  • SAML response parsing is hardened against malicious XML (#6054).
  • zstd is patched through tonic, along with other Rust advisories
    (#5864, #5885, #5982, #5990, #6043).
  • Also updated: NATS, OpenTelemetry Go 1.47, Arrow 60, Cap'n Proto
0.27, quick-xml 0.42, other Go and Rust libraries, and JavaScript
    dependencies (#4884, #6018, #6056, #6065, #6070, #6075, #6079, #6080,
    #6082, #6083, #6084, #6085).
