Burrow 0.5.0
Burrow grows up: Touch ID for cleanups, a live menu-bar HUD, an in-app cleanup history, an MCP server for AI agents, Simplified Chinese, and a one-command Homebrew install — on top of the five-tool window from 0.4.0.
The window
- Status — live dashboard: health score, CPU, memory, GPU, disk, network, battery with per-metric sparklines and a sortable/pinnable process table.
- Analyze — squarified treemap of your disk; drill in, reveal in Finder.
- Software — installed-app list with search/sort + multi-select uninstall, plus a Homebrew Updates tab.
- Clean — preview what's reclaimable, then clean for real.
- Optimize — one-tap safe maintenance.
New in 0.5.0
- Touch ID for sudo — cleanups that need admin rights can authenticate with your fingerprint (via
mo touchid). - Menu-bar HUD — a richer drop-down with live status of jobs running in the app, plus an option to run without the menu-bar icon (Dock mode).
- Activity — Mole's cleanup history (
mo history) as an in-app pane: what ran, when, and how much it freed. - Ask your AI about your Mac (MCP) — a stdio MCP server (
Burrow --mcp) for Claude Code / Cursor / Codex / Cline, including a semanticburrow_process_usagetool. Read-only. - Guided Mole setup — onboarding when
mois missing, plus in-app version +mo update. - Simplified Chinese localization (zh-Hans).
- History — long-range charts (5 m → 90 d) over a local SQLite store.
Privacy & permissions
- A Full Disk Access gate stops the macOS per-folder permission flood before scans that walk protected directories, with a Stop button and a "Scan with admin" escape hatch for cache scans (one prompt instead of many).
- Nothing leaves your Mac: no analytics, no accounts; the MCP server is local, and the only opt-in network call is
brew outdated.
Install
brew install --cask caezium/tap/burrow
Installs the mole engine and clears the Gatekeeper quarantine for you. Or download the .zip from this release and run xattr -cr /Applications/Burrow.app.
Unsigned, pre-1.0 — not yet notarized. Requires macOS 14+ and the Mole CLI (brew install mole).
Heads-up: this 0.5.0 build is unsigned, which on some Macs stops a Full Disk Access grant from "sticking." 0.5.1 fixes that with ad-hoc signing —
brew upgrade --cask caezium/tap/burrow.
