A sturdier pCloud sign-in — and your own pCloud app

pCloud has blocked rclone's shared pCloud access before: in 2021, and again on 5 October 2026 for about three hours. New sign-ins showed Invalid 'client_id', existing ones failed with error 2095, and afterwards everything worked again by itself. CryptBridge now copes with this much better.

New

  • Own pCloud app (optional, recommended). Settings → Own pCloud app explains step by step how to request an app of your own at pCloud — every text to enter has a Copy button. With your own app, CryptBridge no longer depends on rclone's shared access. Your vault does not change — same keys, same files; you only sign in once more.
  • A refused sign-in stays visible. Until now the warning disappeared after two seconds. Now it stays on the Status tab with a Sign in again button. CryptBridge asks pCloud every minute and removes the warning by itself once pCloud accepts the sign-in again — the sign-in is never thrown away.
  • Sign in again with one click, also while the drive is connected: CryptBridge disconnects (asking first if uploads are running), signs in and connects again.
  • No more empty drive. Before connecting, CryptBridge checks that pCloud accepts the sign-in. If it does not, the drive is not mounted; with reconnect automatically on, CryptBridge keeps trying and connects by itself once pCloud works again.
  • Plain-word errors: sign-in refused · pCloud busy · pCloud server problem · no internet connection.

Status of the own-app sign-in

CryptBridge is fully usable right away with rclone's shared access. The own-app sign-in is built in and tested up to pCloud's sign-in page; a complete sign-in with an approved app has not been tested yet, because the approval of our own test app is still pending at pCloud. Feedback is welcome.

Upgrading

Replace CryptBridge.exe and start it — settings, sign-in and vault are kept. The Linux setup is unchanged apart from the version number; after switching to your own app, bring the new sign-in to the server with a new transfer block (see README).
