Fixed/Added

  • scanner no longer loops forever on junction points / symlinks (C:\Users\All Users >>>C:\ProgramData trap); reparse points are now skipped during directory traversal
  • junk growth tracker: settings now keeps a history of past clean runs (date, bytes freed, items removed)
  • ai explanations for winapp2 entries via groq (experimental, needs api key in settings) [AI explanations are fully opt-in. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you add your own free Groq API key in Settings. No key=feature simply doesnt appear]
  • search now auto-expands categories so results are actually visible
  • cleaned up navigation to follow the official winui3 way;replaced custom workarounds with native patterns (hamburger in titlebar, built-in settings button, IsSelected in xaml instead of code-behind) devblogs.microsoft.com
  • hamburger button moved into the title bar;this is native windows 11 pattern (file explorer/settings style)
  • settings button is now the built-in navigationview control, complete with the native rotation animation on click
  • Add new Microsoft Edge*, TeamViewer* cache cleanup rules and update Winapp2.ini to version 260512
  • upgraded from WinApp SDK 1.8 >> 2.0.1 (stable, released 29 Apr 2026)
  • dropped x86 build target;x64 and ARM64 only
  • tools page got a full visual overhaul inspired by the Windows Clock app widget style.extensions now feel like interactive widgets rather than a plain list

Experimental

  • [Experimental] Tested an optional AI-based cleaner entry explainer using Groq / Llama 3.3 70B.
The idea was to explain individual Winapp2 entries, file paths and registry keys in plain English before cleanup.
I intentionally decided not to include this in the current release.
After posting a small preview on X/Twitter, I received roughly 26 messages within minutes telling me not to do this 😄 Users still seem to absolutely hate AI in apps.

I may release this later as an optional Insider feature to gather more feedback, but for now it will not ship in the main release
