First off, huge thanks to Maddy25 for all the hard work he put into motion controls. He implemented a lot of the systems single-handedly and they feel awesome in VR :)
We’ve added full motion controls for Oculus Touch and Index controllers. We also have Vive bindings, but these controllers have limited inputs and neither of us have these to test with - we would greatly appreciate any feedback and we’ll try our best to tune these so they work well.
Features included:
- Upper body tracking using VRIK (including finger tracking)
- Motion tracking is translated to via multiplayer, so you can wave hello to your friends (or any other lewd hand gesture you prefer)
- Melee combat via swinging (or punching for unarmed)
- Full Bow and Arrow motion controls
- Spear throwing with motion controls
- Fishing :)
- Point and click building
- Use your hands to interact with the environment
- Custom VR controls for interacting with menus
- Custom VR controls for switching/equipping items and holstering and unholstering weapons
Features we still want but aren’t yet ready:
- Room scale - Right now the body still doesn’t track where the player is in their space, so motion is limited to joystick only. This is something I’m trying to find a good solution to.
