πŸ’Ά Cost sensors

Powercalc can now track how much your energy consumption costs. Enable create_cost_sensors globally (or create_cost_sensor per sensor) and set an energy price, and Powercalc creates a monetary cost sensor alongside each energy sensor, ready for your dashboards and the Home Assistant energy dashboard.

Highlights:

  • Fixed or dynamic pricing β€” use a fixed energy_price, or point energy_price_sensor at a live tariff sensor (Nordpool, Tibber, Frank Energie, …). Dynamic prices are settled at the price that was active when the energy was consumed, so accumulated cost stays correct as the tariff changes.
  • Surcharge & multiplier β€” add a per-kWh energy_price_surcharge (taxes, grid fees) and/or an energy_price_multiplier (e.g. 1.21 for 21% tax).
  • Cost per utility meter β€” with utility meters enabled, you also get a cost sensor per cycle (daily, monthly, …) that resets together with its meter.
  • Standalone cost sensors β€” create a cost sensor for any existing energy sensor, even one not created by Powercalc.
  • Unit-aware β€” energy in Wh/MWh and prices in EUR/MWh etc. are automatically converted to per-kWh, and the cost sensor adopts the currency from your price sensor.
  • Fully configurable via YAML and the GUI, with naming options (cost_sensor_naming / cost_sensor_friendly_naming).
