MKW Vita 1.4.1

Fixes for bike animations, items left on the ground, the Wario Bike and Coin Runners. Only the VPK changes: your 1.4.0 game files keep working.

Note

Coming from 1.4.0? Just install the new VPK. 1.4.1 uses the same game files, so there's nothing to rebuild or copy.

Coming from 1.3.0 or older? Rebuild your game files as described in the 1.4.0 release.

What's new

Fixed issues

  • Mixed-up bike animations (#20):
    • Riders only flail their legs when a cannon shoots them out. Ramps, jump pads, boost ramps and tricks keep the normal riding pose.
    • The Flame Runner and the other inside-drift bikes lean into a drift instead of sticking a leg out.
  • Items on the ground (#21). Dropped items land and stay where they fall. They play their landing sound once and aren't pushed around anymore.

Racing

  • Wario Bike. The handlebars and the front of the bike no longer float off it. This affected every large character on it, Funky Kong included.
  • Time Trial ghosts. Ghosts stay centred when you race or watch them, instead of drifting off to the side.

Battle

  • Coin Runners. Half as many coins on the ground at the start.
  • Minimap. The coins are smaller dots.

Menus

  • Stick diagonals. Pushing the stick diagonally no longer moves the cursor and changes the page at the same time.
  • Retro Rewind cup pages. The text no longer disappears when you change page with the stick.
  • Random courses. Random picks change from race to race, instead of repeating.
  • Main menu. "Single Player", "Multiplayer" and the other titles are white like on the Wii, without the flash.

Everything above is in the Retro Rewind edition too.

Install

  1. Install mkw.vpk (or mkw-retro-rewind.vpk), attached below, with VitaShell.
  2. That's it if you're on 1.4.0. From an older release, rebuild your game files first (see the 1.4.0 release).
  3. Make sure ur0:data/libshacccg.suprx exists (run ShaRKF00D once).

Your licenses, times and ghosts stay.

The VPK contains no Nintendo game files. Please don't share your built game files.

Building it yourself

  • Build MKW Vita.bat builds the game files and the VPK (needs VitaSDK).
  • Build Game Files.bat builds only the game files.
  • See BUILDING.md for details.
