Super Mario Galaxy in VR on Meta Quest 3: a native port built on the Petari decompilation. Bring your own game files; the README explains how to convert them and install the app:
adb install --no-incremental -r GalaxyQuest.apk
New in 0.1.6
- The American disc works. Up to 0.1.5 the app only started with the European disc's files (RMGP01) and crashed at the start with the American ones (RMGE01). It now recognises the disc from its own files. The Japanese and Korean discs are recognised too, but have not been tried.
- Language. The game plays in any language your disc has: English, French, German, Spanish or Italian on the European disc; English, French or Spanish on the American one. Pick it on the Game tab of the VR settings; it takes effect the next time the app starts.
- Every setting is in the game. The VR settings panel beside the pause menu now has four tabs (Screen, Diorama, Picture, Game) with every setting of
petari_vr.ini, and a Defaults button for each tab. No more editing the file over adb. - Invert camera (on by default): pushing the right stick to the right now turns the view to the right. Switch it off on the Game tab for the Wii's way round, where the camera itself goes the way you push.
- Passthrough (off by default): see your own room around the giant screen instead of the dark. Switch it on on the Screen tab. It takes GPU time, so:
- The giant screen's picture adapts. When the GPU cannot keep up (passthrough and the stereoscopic 3D are the usual reasons), the screen's picture is drawn a little smaller instead of the game losing frames, and goes back to its full size when there is time to spare. Lowest resolution on the Picture tab sets how far it may go.
To update, install the new APK over the old one with the command above. Only the app changed since 0.1.2: there is no need to convert your game files again, and your saves and settings stay as they are. Note that the right stick now turns the camera the other way round unless you switch Invert camera off.
GalaxyQuest-converter.zip holds the same conversion scripts as in 0.1.5; they convert the American disc as they are.
