Server mode requires HTTP basic auth for the indexer methods (brc20_* and debug_getBlockTrace*). Library mode keeps them off the network and needs no credentials. See Authorization.
Breaking Changes
- The server refuses to start, before opening the database, without
BRC20_PROG_RPC_SERVER_USERand a strongBRC20_PROG_RPC_SERVER_PASSWORD(at least 32 characters, not a sample value, not the username, not one repeated character). BRC20_PROG_RPC_SERVER_ENABLE_AUTHis retired: it defaults totrue, andfalseis a startup error.- A listener that serves the indexer methods sends no CORS headers and serves HTTP only (no WebSocket). Browser apps that call
eth_*from another origin need a split setup withBRC20_PROG_ADMIN_RPC_SERVER_URL.
Security
- The
Authorizationheader is compared in constant time. - Public listeners (
start_public_rpc_server, and the public side of a split setup) do not register the indexer methods, and answer calls to them with a 401 error. Brc20ProgConfigimplementsDebug, with both passwords redacted.env.sampleships empty credentials.
