github ben-manes/gradle-versions-plugin v0.66.0

  • Accept io.github.ben-manes.versions in a settings script, and VersionsPlugin in an init script, where the settings plugin was required for each (#1151, #1154, #1155)
  • Add a public ProblemsReporter for use in a custom outputFormatter, and print the embedded Kotlin count and the --info hint correctly from a PlainTextReporter created there (#1149, #1153)
  • Report a Gradle update, unresolved dependencies, and configurations that could not be inspected in the problems format, where only outdated dependencies were reported (#1150, #1153)
  • Add problems to the default outputFormatter, which is now plain, problems (#1153)
  • Add the projects where a dependency is declared to the JSON and XML reports as declaringProjects (#1153)
  • Read count in Result and DependenciesGroup from the dependencies, so the JSON and XML reports are correct after a custom outputFormatter removes one (#1153)
  • Build on Gradle 9.8.1 (#1148)

Tip

Replace io.github.ben-manes.versions.settings with io.github.ben-manes.versions in a settings script, and apply VersionsPlugin in an init script. The earlier ID and the earlier init script still work.

Note

  • With the new default, on Gradle 8.13 or later, Gradle prints the location of its problems report at the end of a run in which a problem is reported. On Gradle 9.3 or later, each problem is also printed on the console under --warning-mode all. The plain text report is unchanged. Set outputFormatter = "plain" for the earlier behavior.
  • The number of entries left out for Gradle's embedded Kotlin is written to the JSON and XML reports as a top-level leftOutEmbeddedKotlin, which is 0 where none is left out.
  • Kotlin code that constructs a Dependency, DependencyOutdated, DependencyLatest, or DependencyUnresolved while leaving an argument to its default has to be recompiled. Java and Groovy callers, and a formatter that only reads the report, are unaffected.
  • The count constructor arguments of Result and DependenciesGroup are still accepted for backwards compatibility and for the sake of Moshi serialization, but they're ignored.
