Summary

AI-DLC 2.11.0 keeps the person in charge of the workflow: replies are read and kept in their own words from any chat, what they ask for happens at once with the way back, Plan Approval is asked by the engine, and Construction keeps finished Unit work when the plan changes. New work starts leaner, configuration runs beside open work and keeps the team's own files, AI-DLC workflow commands need fewer permission prompts, and a tool whose hooks never run now names the one step that fixes it.

Upgrade

Open work carries on through the refresh. When a project contains multiple harnesses, run aidlc config --harness <name> --yes for each harness you want to refresh.

Existing intents: recorded Guard Policy, sensors, learnings, and summary-confirmation settings are preserved. Plan Approval and Collaborators were not previously recorded per intent, so existing work follows its scope's new defaults for those settings. Outside enterprise, remaining stages use the lead agent only unless you enable /aidlc --collaborators on.

Manual-copy users must copy the complete runtime/<harness>/ tree from aidlc-copy-runtime-2.11.0.tar.gz. Copy it over the project following the copy-channel instructions. This installation path requires Bun 1.3.8 or newer but does not require the native aidlc executable.

Chat commands below use /aidlc; in Codex CLI, use $aidlc instead.

Highlights

You drive the workflow

Replies are read and kept in your own words, and pending questions can be answered from any chat. Recorded answers are not requested again; "How would you like to answer them?" is asked once per piece of work.
What you ask for is done at once, with one line naming the way back: /aidlc --skip <stage>, --add <stage>, a scope change, or a Construction setting said in chat.
A bare /aidlc in a new session carries on with the work in progress, with no resume menu, and a fresh clone picks up committed work in one answer.
The engine asks for Plan Approval and remembers an unchanged approved plan across chat compaction and parking. Other requests can proceed while code generation waits. A changed plan can require approval again; "go back to the approved plan" restores the plan before the build.
Scope and Construction setting changes preserve completed Unit work. Jumps and redos repeat only the requested work. You can approve over an unfinished review unless team memory locks Guard Policy to strict.

Leaner defaults and plans

New work on every scope except enterprise starts at Guard Policy off, and each stage runs with its lead agent only; /aidlc --collaborators on brings the support agents back. Team memory that requires strict Guard Policy still takes precedence.
/aidlc --plan-approval on|off controls whether the code plan needs approval; only the person can turn it off. express and poc ship with it off, and new bugfix intents skip the learnings question and summary confirmation.
A composed plan belongs to its piece of work; Approve and save as scope, or "save this plan as quick-fix", keeps it for reuse.
/aidlc --project-type <greenfield|brownfield> says whether the work is a new project or existing code, and a PDF or Word file you name is onboarded for you.

Setup, configuration, and lifecycle

aidlc config runs while work is open, and --download fetches exactly the release a project needs on either channel.
Configuration refreshes preserve project-owned hooks and settings while updating AI-DLC's entries. The copy archive omits .gitignore, AGENTS.md, opencode.json, team memory, and other project-owned files so copying a new release keeps them.
When hooks do not run, setup and the first message name the harness-specific trust step. AI-DLC workflow commands run without permission prompts on Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot in VS Code, Kiro CLI, and Kiro IDE; agents still ask before changing the machine's AI-DLC installation.
A plain aidlc update never installs an older release, and aidlc uninstall at a terminal says what it removes and proceeds with no [y/N] question.
On Windows, a "Run as administrator" window gets a warning and a prompt instead of a refusal, and Git Bash finds aidlc through a new bin\aidlc launcher.

Harness by harness

Kiro: one kiro-ide install serves Kiro IDE 1.1.70 or newer and Kiro CLI 2.24.1 or newer (v3 engine), while the kiro install still needs Kiro CLI 2.6 or newer. Kiro CLI setup asks for the session model, and Kiro IDE shows far fewer approval and hook cards.
Codex CLI: no "Under-development features enabled" warning at start, setup and doctor name the /hooks trust step, and replies name $aidlc.
GitHub Copilot: no Allow clicks for AI-DLC's own commands in VS Code, every step fits VS Code's terminal result, and stage runners start only when typed.
Cursor, opencode, and Claude Code: Cursor never throws away your prompt, opencode keeps the team's opencode.json and keeps AI-DLC's nudges out of the chat, and a new Claude Code chat gets the work's state at session start.
Long runs reuse delivered rules where the harness supports it. Code Generation no longer runs the advisory lint and type-check sensors after every file; type-check still runs at Build and Test.

Script compatibility

aidlc engine testing-posture fingerprint --reapprove is retired. Plan Approval now follows the engine's normal next flow when the plan changes.
Composing a plan no longer writes a scope file automatically. Use aidlc engine scope save --name <name> when the person asks to save it.
The Windows installer no longer reads AIDLC_ALLOW_ADMIN_INSTALL. A non-interactive install from a UAC-elevated PowerShell window requires -Yes; interactive runs show a warning and ask whether to continue.
