We're excited to announce the release of AWS ParallelCluster 3.16.2
Upgrade
How to upgrade?
sudo pip install --upgrade aws-parallelcluster
ENHANCEMENTS
- Improve
export-logs: speed up by downloading logs in parallel, add progress reporting, support running on deleted clusters. - Add a
pcluster-diagcheck that verifies the sudoers definitions ParallelCluster relies on.
CHANGES
- Add support for Python 3.14 in the
pclusterCLI. - Upgrade the Python runtime of ParallelCluster Lambda functions to Python 3.14 (from 3.12).
- Increase the default root volume size to 50 GB (from 45 GB).
- Log the
systemctl statusoutput and the last journal entries of any system service that fails to start during
node bootstrap or cluster update to/var/log/chef-client.log, so that the cause of the failure is available in CloudWatch Logs. - Upgrade the Python version used by the virtual environments baked into the AMIs to 3.14.8 (from 3.14.6).
- Ship only AWS CLI v2 in ParallelCluster AMIs. AWS CLI v1 is no longer installed in the cookbook Python virtual environment.
- Remove execution permissions from the configuration files
/opt/parallelcluster/shared/computefleet-status.json,
/opt/parallelcluster/scripts/clusterstatusmgtd_logging.confand/etc/dcv/dcv.conf. - Log the content of the Slurm configuration files generated on the head node, to simplify troubleshooting.
BUG FIXES
- Fix
build-imagefailing in proxied environments whenUpdateOsis enabled. - Fix
ExistingFsxNetworkingValidatorfailing with a genericNoneTypeerror when a file system does not return
network interfaces. The validator now fails with a clear error message. - Fix IAM role and policy naming collisions by using a longer suffix derived from the stack ID (24 characters, from 8).
- Fix
describe-clusterreporting incomplete events when the stack has a large event history. - Fix cluster update failing with
mount target already exists in this AZwhen multiple subnets are in the same AZ. - Fix cluster update replacing the managed FSx for Lustre file system, when all the queues are replaced with new ones on a different subnet.
- Fix login nodes failing to mount the EFS file system managed by ParallelCluster when they are in an AZ not used by
the head node or compute nodes. ParallelCluster now creates an EFS mount target in that AZ. - Fix cluster update hanging when a shared storage is unresponsive, caused by the
fuserprobe run before each unmount. - Fix the permissions of ParallelCluster-managed files under
/etc/sudoers.d/by setting mode0440on all of them. - Fix EC2 throttling during compute node launch not being retried and being reported as insufficient capacity
when using multiple instance types or multiple subnets. - Fix ParallelCluster treating
key=valuetext in theCommentandExtrafields of Slurm nodes and reservations
as actual properties.
DEPRECATIONS
- This is the last ParallelCluster release that supports Ubuntu 22.04.
