Sound Reactive WLED Now With Digital Mic Support!

Changelog since 0.10.1 can be found here.

Here comes another big update! Along with the changes to WLED since 0.10.0, there have been some significant changes and improvements to Sound Reactive WLED.

The most notable change is likely the removal of ESP8266 support from our main branch. Don't worry, we still support the ESP8266! We didn't make this decision lightly. The ESP8266 has proven to be difficult to work with when trying to process audio input, drive LEDs, and run a web server over WiFi. We decided to rebuild the ESP8266 Sound Reactive code from the ground up with only the features that are compatible with the ESP8266. This has reduced the overhead on the ESP8266 and gotten rid of many of the errors and quirks that we saw on the ESP8266. You can find the code for the ESP8266 here. We don't have any precompiled binaries for the ESP8266 at this time, but we will have some up very soon.

If you have questions, please refer to our Sound Reactive WIKI before asking questions. We have put a lot of time into documenting how this firmware works and how to use WLED specifically. If you require further assistance, please use one of the contact methods provided in the WIKI.

Features of this release

  • Digital Mic Support for ESP32
  • Sound Settings have been moved to their own settings page.
  • Gain Settings for volume reactive or '*' routines.
  • Up to date with Aircoookie/WLED as of this release
    • All binaries have the following functionality disabled: Alexa, Blynk, Cronixie, HueSync, Infrared, MQTT
If you require any of the above functionality, please compile from source.

Notes on ESP8266: The current 0.10.2 binaries do no have the full functionality of the ESP32 branch. We are working to add the same functionality as before we split the code. Please bear with us while we iron this out.
