Armbian Weekly digest

This week's work centers on kernel 7.2 enablement across out-of-tree drivers, a redesigned armbian-install with expanded boot topologies, and new UEFI cloud ISO delivery alongside board additions.

The mainline bump to 7.2-rc6 drove a coordinated pass through wireless and peripheral drivers, with compatibility updates landing for uwe5622, rtl8723ds, rtl8852bs, and radxa-aic8800, plus a broader rewrite of kernel configs and patch sets for the new baseline. Rockchip received targeted fixes including RGA3 upscaling flicker correction, scoped rk3576 HS400 DLL calibration, RK808 clkout cell naming, and a switch to CUBIC congestion control as the default. Additional platform work covers mvebu64 kernel bumps to 6.12/6.18/7.1, SpacemiT K1 patch cleanup now that changes are upstream, imx93 build repair on 6.18.42, and a btrfs-enabling CRC32C config change applied across all boards.

The armbian-install tool was redesigned as a tested armbian-config module, gaining eMMC/NVMe boot fixes, a split boot-from-eMMC installer, SPI/MTD boot with root on NVMe/SATA/USB, and clearer diagnostics for blocked dual-boot scenarios such as BitLocker or dirty NTFS volumes. Companion configng modules add Proxmox VE on Debian trixie, virt-manager alongside Cockpit for desktop hosts, UEFI defaults for new x86 VMs, and docker-buildx on distro-maintained installs.

Image delivery expands with a new image-output-iso extension producing bootable live ISOs from UEFI images for cloud and IPMI virtual CD use, backed by CI changes to sign, torrent, and publish ISO artifacts, and a website update surfacing the new image type. Board support grows with the Milk-V DuoS (aarch64+riscv64), Walnut Pi Box and 1B DDR3 variant, Tanix TX6S, Odin3 bringup, and a promotion pass moving tested boards into supported configuration.
