Dive into the new features
Auto-saving functionality
Never lose your progress! Auto-saving automatically saves your game at intervals, ensuring you can always pick up where you left off. It's disabled by default and can be enabled in the settings.
Platform-specific shader settings
Configure different shaders per platform for the optimal visual experience, allowing you to customize the look and feel of each console separately.
New visual shaders
Added 29 new additional shaders to enhance your retro gaming experience with beautiful visual effects.
Launch recently played games from the search bar
The search bar now includes recent games as default suggestions, making it easier to quickly launch the titles you play most often.
Multi-user support for self-hosted users
RetroAssembly now supports multiple users on a single instance for self-hosted users! Create separate profiles for family members or friends, each with their own game libraries, saves, and preferences.
Perfermance improvements for loading games' metadata
In the past, we only stored metadata identifiers in the database, which meant that loading game metadata required additional API calls. This is reasonable for the officially hosted instance, since latency between the metadata server and the main server is low. But for self-hosted users, it could lead to significant delays, especially with large libraries.
Now, we store the full metadata in the database after ROMs are added, significantly speeding up the loading process. This change will be applied automatically when you upgrade to v5. Note that the initial migration may take some time depending on the size of your library.
