What is this and what build should I use now? Read the Migration 01 release notes for all the details, but in summary: Please do not use the old "feature" releases any more. If you were using the feature releases of this fork and need its added experimental features, please switch to this migration 02 release. If you do not need the experimental features, please use the official 3.4.2 version or the latest upstream builds.
Migration Release 02
This release fixes most of the issues that came up on the Migration Release 01:
- Fix the subtitle grid flashing on Windows
- Fix Aegisub sometimes choosing a weird default language on first startup
- Fix some dialogs being broken on Mac
- Fix extra braces being added to line texts when, for example, renaming styles
Please continue to report any bugs you encounter on the migration releases that did not happen on the feature releases or 3.2.2.
That's mostly it regarding important information about this release, so let me use the remaining space here to blog a little:
As you can see, the first migration release had a number of fairly big issues.
Some people may be tempted to conclude from this that the first migration release was a mistake or a failure in some way.
Let me make clear that it is in fact the opposite: The fact that so many bugs were found is a sign that this release did its job. All of these bugs were ones that would also have happened on the official upstream version. (Also, most of them were not Aegisub's fault directly, but were caused by updating dependencies.) Since those bugs were caught early, they could be fixed before a broken official release was made. Without this migration release, all of the advanced users would still be using the old feature releases, and there would be very few people that were testing the latest upstream for issues.
So, in summary, bugs being found is a good thing. They're there either way, and I'd rather know about them sooner than later.
