- Brightness and other monitor controls stop working after the Mac sleeps. While the Mac is
asleep, macOS can quietly rebuild the connection OpenDisplay uses to control an external
monitor (seen on an LG over HDMI). OpenDisplay kept using the old connection, so brightness keys,
sliders and the other hardware controls did nothing until the app was relaunched. It now notices
when that connection has gone away, or keeps failing, and reconnects on its own — and it starts
fresh after every wake. Each reconnect is recorded in the diagnostics bundle's display timeline.
