Release Summary

This minor release adds a use_deprecated_tags option to the aws_ec2 inventory plugin and replaces the deprecated ansible.module_utils.six compatibility shims with Python standard library equivalents. It also includes bug fixes for the aws_sqs_queue event source plugin, aws_ssm connection plugin, ec2_spot_instance, rds_cluster, and Python 3.14 compatibility.

Minor Changes

• Replace the deprecated ansible.module_utils.six compatibility shims with their Python standard library equivalents. ansible.module_utils.six is deprecated in ansible-core 2.21 and is scheduled for removal in 2.24 (#3039).
• aws_ec2 inventory plugin - Added a use_deprecated_tags option to allow disabling the deprecated tags host variable and its associated deprecation and reserved-name warnings independently of global deprecation warning settings (#3028).

Bugfixes

• aws_sqs_queue - Fix UUID generation in the EDA event source plugin to set meta.uuid as a flat key readable by ansible-rulebook, validate the SQS MessageId as a proper RFC 4122 UUID, and fall back to a deterministic UUID5 when invalid (#3034).
• aws_ssm - Apply the transfer bucket's server-side encryption settings when uploading files from the controller to the managed node (put_file), matching the existing fetch_file behavior. This fixes transfers to buckets whose policies deny unencrypted PutObject requests (#3018).
• aws_ssm connection plugin - Fix a hang on reboot by handling ValidationException when terminating already-disconnected sessions (#3044).
• ec2_spot_instance - Fix the network_interfaces.ipv6_addresses suboption name. It was defined as ipv6address and serialized to the invalid boto3 key Ipv6address; it is now serialized as Ipv6Address (#2557, #3110).
• module_utils - Fix fail_json_aws() on Python 3.14 and ansible-core 2.19+ by detecting support for the exception parameter without calling traceback.format_exc() outside an exception context (#3103).
• rds_cluster - Fix final_snapshot_identifier being dropped when deleting a DB cluster with skip_final_snapshot=false. The option is now final_db_snapshot_identifier, matching rds_instance and the FinalDBSnapshotIdentifier API parameter; final_snapshot_identifier remains an alias (#3084).
• aws_ssm connection plugin - Fix timeouts for Ubuntu clients by sending oneline commands without newline characters, as required by the dash shell (#3036).
