The send from alias feature works like this:
Say you have an alias e.g. ebay@johndoe.anonaddy.com and you want to send an email from this alias to hello@ebay.com.
All you need to do is send your email to ebay+hello=ebay.com@johndoe.anonaddy.com (this email must be sent from one of your account's verified recipients).
So you send the email to the alias and then add the + extension of the recipients email but you just replace the "@" with an "=". This is how VERP (variable envelope return path) works for handling bounces on many sites.
