Welcome to the seventeenth hotfix build of Geckium Public Beta 1!
Important change for new Geckium users
As of Geckium Beta 1.16, Geckium will now automatically customise your toolbar to better fit the intended look and feel you clearly set out to get when you installed Geckium to your Gecko-powered browser of choice. This will only affect users who first use Geckium in this release and onwards, as existing Geckium users will not have their toolbars altered whatsoever as a result of installing this version of Geckium. Below is what you can expect your toolbar to now look like when using Geckium for the first time:
Updating Geckium?
To update Geckium, simply delete your Firefox Profile's chrome
folder (use about:support
to find your Firefox Profile per the instructions on Geckium's README), and then copy the below Public Beta 1.17 ZIP file's Profile Folder -> chrome
folder in its place, before finally closing and opening Firefox. Geckium will handle the rest automatically.
Changes since Beta 1.16
- Fixed Light Theme not being detected in Firefox 138 due to Mozilla changing a part of its palette that is checked for 40f7210
- Finally fixed the titlebar button and text colour (especially noticeable with the Windows 10 titlebar and interface style) in modern Firefox releases past 128 after it was broken for a fair number of Mozilla Firefox releases 69940b3
- On that note, active tab text colour also now has a fix slapped onto it for the same circumstances as the above fixed issue 69940b3
- Fixed Firefox Nightly not rendering menu items due to an exception caused by the removal of .menu-icon-text and .menu-icon-highlightable-text in Nightly releases b63486f
- Partially fixed the broken mess that is Firefox Nightly's menus on all platforms ef631ff
- The "Finish Setup" nag is now ignored by the initial toolbar re-arrangement feature - prior to .1, it would be considered a custom toolbar item and thus moved accordingly from the Bookmarks Toolbar to the custom toolbar icons 18f97e7
- Fixed the breakage of titlebar button glyphs, caused exclusively by Firefox for Windows, in Firefox 141+ 697ea3d

Geckium is in an Early Beta stage
Non-English-speaking Geckium users may find parts of Geckium's user interface are written in [!!! ƥƨèúδôℓôçáℓè !!!] - this means there hasn't yet been a translation for that string in your language - if you see any, please fork the repository, translate the dtd/properties files in locale
accordingly, then send a Pull Request to this repository containing the localised strings!
Aside from having incomplete localisation for non-English Geckium users, please remember that due to Geckium being in an Early Beta state, there are many things missing from Geckium currently, including:
- Material Design 1 (or 58, is incomplete and seriously buggy)
- Floating Bookmarks Bar has a buggy background that is either incorrect or is misaligned with the new tab background
- Misc. Downloads Shelf behaviour such as dragging a download
- Error Pages, such as phishing
- Styling for the Downloads page
- Geckium and Firefox Updates from the About dialog/page (Geckium's current update checker is a placeholder until a better, automated, update experience is implemented in the future)
- Preventing the Downloads popup from appearing when downloading a file
These are all planned to be added in future Beta releases.
Please report bugs in the Issues tab of this repository.
