The page is yours now: reading chrome that whispers, a line more of every book, and covers that stop going missing.
On the device
The buttons pair like the hardware. The four on-screen tabs sit as two pairs now, matching the two physical rocker bars under them.
Reading is almost pure page. The tab boxes and the status line are gone while you read. Two small words (BOOKS, MENU), two small arrows, and your progress percent in the lower-right corner. Everything still works exactly as before — it just stopped shouting.
About one more line per page. The text reclaims the space the old chrome reserved. Books you re-sync from the phone gain it too.
Hide the button labels entirely (requested by heyflorin). A new "Button labels" row in the reader menu. Set it to Hidden and only the percent remains.
Reset your reading stats (requested by heyflorin). Press RESET on the READING LIFE page. A full-page confirmation stands between a stray press and an empty store: ERASE wipes, BACK keeps everything.
Shelf fixes. Books with long filenames show their covers again. Titles wrap cleanly inside their tiles instead of clipping or spilling out. A re-synced book no longer wears its old cover. And a book whose title field is just an ISBN now shows its real name.
In the apps (0.6.6)
- Android: the Press arrives. Browse the free library, search, take a book with one tap — same as iPhone.
- iOS: OPDS catalogues. Add your own catalogue (Calibre-Web and friends) on the More books page.
- Covers stop going missing. Taken Press books keep their cover art, books taken earlier heal automatically, and the cover hunt finds art hidden behind wrapper pages and unusual names.
iOS 0.6.6 is in TestFlight; Android 0.6.6 (versionCode 9) is on the Play alpha track.
Update firmware and apps together
The apps and this firmware share the new page layout. A book built by app 0.6.6 needs this firmware — on older firmware its last lines hide under the old bottom bar. Books from older apps still read fine here; re-sync them to gain the extra line.
Install
- Browser (easiest): open https://www.flowe.ink/flash in Chrome or Edge, plug in USB-C, and press Update Flowe. Keeps your pairing and your books.
- microSD card: download flowe-firmware.zip, copy update.bin to the root of the card, reinsert it, then hold the left side button and power until the update screen appears.
One file works on both the Xteink X3 and X4.
