github altmenorg/HAsmartirrigation v2026.11.0-beta2

pre-release3 hours ago

Second beta of the full controller. What the first beta brought is all still here (see v2026.11.0-beta1); this one finishes the switch from Irrigation Unlimited, adds the entities people asked for, and fixes what came up. If your garden depends on Smart Irrigation and you do not want surprises, stay on v2026.10.10.

Coming from Irrigation Unlimited: the switch itself

  • Switch over, and back. Once the import is done, one button turns Irrigation Unlimited's controllers off and the imported schedules on, in that order, so nothing ever waters twice; another puts everything back as it was. Only the controllers the switch turned off are turned on again, and if a step fails the first one is undone. The panel also lists what still uses Irrigation Unlimited (automations, scripts, dashboards) before you remove it (#958).
  • The import report is in your language, can be read with the arrow keys, and checks a pump's delays against Irrigation Unlimited's (#959).

Both by @johnnyh1975, thank you!

New

  • Frost tonight. With the freeze condition on, a run from noon on also reads the low the weather service forecasts for the night ahead, and is held back when it is at or under your threshold. A mild evening ahead of a frost night used to water. Morning runs are unchanged, and the Info page shows the night's low.
  • "Just before each start" now means each start. The zones were calculated again only before the first start of the day: a second run on a hot afternoon watered on the morning's numbers. Every start is now calculated afresh (not when a zone was calculated within the hour).
  • New entities (nothing removed):
    • sensor.<zone>_next_irrigation: when the zone is watered next, the same answer as the Info page and the planning, with the expected seconds and whether the weather would hold the run back as things stand.
    • sensor.<zone>_last_run_volume: the litres of the zone's last run.
    • binary_sensor.smart_irrigation_any_zone_needs_water and binary_sensor.smart_irrigation_any_problem: one entity for a dashboard or a notification instead of one per zone, with the zones listed.
  • A zone that cannot be calculated says so: in red on its card instead of a green tick, on its problem sensor, and in Repairs, until a calculation succeeds (#967, thanks @johnnyh1975). Note: the zone's problem sensor now also turns on for a calculation that fails, not only for a valve, so an automation on it will see that too.

Fixes

  • A zone set up with "a fixed amount per day" was never watered: its sensor group has no source, so every calculation stopped at "no sensor data". It is now calculated over the time since its last calculation (#966, thanks @johnnyh1975).
  • A rain gauge of your own no longer keeps a sensor group off Open-Meteo's hourly history: only the inputs of the evapotranspiration decide it now (#961, thanks @Megalos).
  • The pumps when Home Assistant stops. A stop does not unload the integration, so a running watering was cut at the very end, and a pump waiting out its delay could stay on with its valves shut until the next start. The runs are now closed on the stop, and resumed at the next start as after a reload.
  • A run resumed after a restart no longer cuts a pump that is still running with its "power cut before starting".
  • Turning automatic weather updates off left each reading cached for the old interval: an update asked for by hand got one up to a day old.
  • The rain forecast check shows the rain it compares: the threshold is compared with the rain to expect (each forecast weighted by its probability), and the Info page showed only the raw total next to it, so "8.1 mm, threshold 3 mm, not blocking" looked like a bug. It now shows both, and why a run goes ahead anyway (thanks Thorsten1982 on the community forum).
  • After a reload, the per-zone binary sensors stayed unavailable until a restart, and several entities stayed subscribed to the old integration. Both fixed.
  • A zone's lead time read as a delivery time in a few languages.
  • Calculating a zone added on the Zones tab before it had a sensor group gave an error.

Trying it

In HACS, turn on "Show beta versions" for Smart Irrigation, update, restart Home Assistant, and reload the browser so the panel is the new one. 3282 Python tests and 129 panel tests pass.
