github altmenorg/HAsmartirrigation v2026.11.0-alpha2

pre-release4 hours ago

The second alpha of the full controller. Same warning as the first one: this is for the curious. If your garden depends on Smart Irrigation and you do not want surprises, stay on v2026.10.6.

What changes for everyone on this version

These apply with or without the full controller.

  • Rain is replayed hour by hour. The calculation used to add all the rain of the interval and then drain it over the whole interval, so rain that fell late in the day was drained for hours it was not there. Each hour now gets its own rain, its own evapotranspiration and then its drainage. On a rainy day the bucket keeps a little more water than before. As promised in #783, @Megalos.
  • The daily evapotranspiration is never negative, as the hourly one already was. On cold and humid days it used to credit a few hundredths of a millimetre.
  • A sensor that stops reporting no longer lends its last reading to later calculations. With continuous updates on, a dead thermometer's last temperature fed every calculation after it.
  • A weather service that goes silent is noticed in a sensor group that has sensors too, and the notice of a group that is no longer used ends by itself.
  • The next run is one figure everywhere. With the forecast rain credited, the start was placed for the shorter run while the Info page and the zone cards showed the longer one: the start time shown could be a few minutes off.
  • Six actions that cannot be undone now ask first: deleting a zone, a sensor group or a module, and resetting one or all buckets or the weather data. All confirmations are Home Assistant dialogs now, not the browser's.
  • The setup assistant asks only for what the engine needs. A PyETO zone needs temperature and wind; the other readings are marked optional and estimated when they are missing. Thanks @johnnyh1975 (#915).
  • The panel is much faster while it is open: the live estimates are reused instead of being computed again by every card, every few seconds.
  • Slovenian, machine-translated as a starting point for its translators on Weblate.

The fixes of the stable releases v2026.10.3 to v2026.10.6 are in this alpha too.

The full controller, reworked after your feedback

The first alpha had the mechanics and no thought-out interface. Thanks to @Megalos for the detailed feedback in #893 and #912.

  • The switch has a card of its own near the top of Settings, and asks before turning on.
  • The Programs page reads in order: the main program in its own card, then the start trigger, then the other programs.
  • Steps and schedules show what most need; the rest sits under "More options", which opens by itself when something in it is set.
  • Run now asks first, then says what came of it: started, queued, or nothing to water.
  • The planning lists the main program when the start trigger runs it, and a start with nothing to water instead of hiding it (#912).
  • Pause, Resume, Next step and Stop are only active when they can act, and destructive buttons are outlined in red rather than filled.
  • Pumps, main valves and the other valves of a zone are picked from Home Assistant's entities instead of typed as text. The tab is now "Pumps and valves".
  • The Watering tab shows up the first time the panel is opened, without a reload.
  • On a phone the sub-tabs wrap instead of being cut.

Still to come before the beta: dates typed as MM-DD, the three meanings of "Offset", and the three ways of splitting the watering, which will be brought together.

Trying it

In HACS, turn on "Show beta versions" for Smart Irrigation, update, restart Home Assistant, and reload the browser so the panel is the new one. 2787 Python tests and 93 panel tests pass.

Feedback is welcome in the issues, good or bad, with the log if something goes wrong. 🌱
