Changes
First published 8.x release. The v8.0.0 tag was not published after CI validation failed.
Changed
- Automatic lint and test hooks report findings without blocking edits, agent
completion, or requesting another model turn. Safety and permission guards
retain their deny behavior. Explicit commands and CI remain strict. - Focused Python, Go, and JS checks use their owning project and prepared runtime,
including uv workspaces and inherited JS workspace configuration. uv does not
sync or install dependencies. - Partial, unavailable, zero-test, and unmeasured runs are not reported as verified
passes. Failed, skipped, and incomplete work stays pending; unchanged failed
attempts are quiet until inputs or execution settings change. - Tool execution, environment probes, discovery, and captured output are bounded.
Cancellation stops nested process groups. Invalid metadata or unavailable
targets never fall back to linting unrelated files. - Tracking is scoped by worktree, session, and cwd; parallel edits append
atomically. Private legacy caches are not reused. - Pi receives trusted cwd/session metadata and bounded diagnostics without forced
continuations. Context startup tolerates malformed helper results, and failed
desktop notifications report their exit status before text fallback.
Upgrade
- Before upgrading, add explicit test/lint CI or pre-commit gates if you relied on
automatic hooks to enforce quality. Hook findings no longer stop agents. - Reload or restart sessions after updating the package so cached hook paths and
extensions are refreshed. - After repairing an external environment without code edits, retry the reported
command directly or setTEST_RUNNER_FULL=1for an explicit full check.
